New Expansions

By ImperialOfficer, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

There's been a lot of talk about the next box, Endor or Rebels, but until then, we get the three small expansions.

Which of the three are people looking forward to most?

Being an Empire guy in most games, I'm excited about BT.

But with the lack of support in the empire, I usually run scum in competitive play, I think the 2 pt Jawa will be really nice.

Chopper of course looks like a lot of fun, and so does Hera, for a cheap cost.

Of these, will any of them change the game significantly?

With an elite Jawa Scavenger you have have both Chopper and BT-1 and one other non-mercenary droid in your mercenary army, and in the process have created a fourth faction.

I often find myself with a gap in Scum that an annoying little 2pt Jawa would fill nicely, so I'm super excited for that. Maybe 000 will help fill the void in Imperial so that we don't have to just say "2x Officer and let's go" as well.

Chopper is one of my favorite characters, so naturally I'm excited about him most.

Do we actually know what cost the skirmish version of the E. Jawa is? I see on the picture for the news article the one that is shown at 3 cost has a World Circle there, which means campaign right?

Assuming it is 3 cost.. I've been toying around with some J. Luke/IG-88 teams.

1 Temp Alliance
12 Jedie Luke
3 Gideon
3 E. Jawa
2 C3P0
6 BT-1
12 IG-88
Devious Schemes

Rough draft, but Prey on the Weak would look oh so good on either IG-88 or BT-1 if only.. if only..

What I like about this build is that it's got a few big players that can draw focus away from BT-1 allowing him to do his thing, or focus on the droid but get pincered by the Twin Towers. Between Luke, IG-88 and BT there is the potential of 7 attacks between 3 activations. This build could also drop C3PO and DS for a Probe Droid.. he might become useless after the second round unless he can keep up with BT-1 or the Jawa.. or he could just stick beside IG-88 to add that evade. I can see myself playing IG-88 like the E. Rangers. Blue Blue Focused green, he has identical surges, lacks the built in pierce but gains an extra accuracy. And with his added block a bit more suitability. He can sit there and between Gideon and his 2 free movement points get his 2 focused attacks off each round from minimum 7 range. He lacks the re rolls, which is huge obviously, but that will just require him to be a bit closer and take a few less range risks.

So many options opened up with just one wave it really makes things exciting.

It still seems so odd to have a rebel, and an imperial droid in a scum list.

I'm hoping there's a card in there that places some limitation on what the Jawa can bring, based on the underlying list being played.

So if it's a rebel list, and you've brought Jawa with Saska, you can't bring an Imperial droid since it's a rebel base list.

Same with Imperial, if you use devious scheme to bring greedo and Jawa, the jawa could then bring a scum droid, but not 3po, R2, or chopper since it's an Imperial base list.

No clue if this has already been covered, so if so, I'm sorry. Just throwing out ideas.

There are limitations, the Elite Jawa Scavenger can only bring Droids into a mercenary army. If you bring elite jawa to an imperial army with Temp Alliance, that ability does not work at all.

Ok great, thanks for letting me know, I didn't know that yet. So I assume that would also limit the rebel example? So if you have saska and you bring a jawa, you would not be able to to bring BT, correct?

Yes, only works if your affiliation is mercenary.

The thought of Jedi Luke and IG88 pairing up is stupidly awesome. Definitely going to play around with this. I don't know if it will be competetive, but I have no doubt that it will be fun :-)
