Hi guys its been a long time since I played the L5R CCG but this new LCG has me interested. I'm just wondering is this game going to play like the old CCG or is it an entirely new game?

Some mechanics have carried over, but it's best to think of it as an entirely new game.

It is a new game that is drawing some inspiration from the old one. You will absolutely need to learn it as though it's entirely new, but elements will feel familiar.

(My prediction based on what we've seen so far.)

Treat it is a new game and be pleasantly surprised when something looks familiar.

That's probably the best bet - see if a friend will play a single core version with you and decide if you like it enough to go full in. Then you can recruit a playgroup at your local store.
