Assuming Youngster works like I think he does, this list allows for the three /sf's to shoot 4/3 reds out the front, and 3 out the back. They'll still have two agility because of Lightweight Frame, and with 6 health apiece, they won't collapse when sneezed on.

It works as desired, but maybe not as intended. Have you played any games with it?

I think Youngster's ability only applies to tie fighters, or the tie/fos, not the special forces tie.

Youngster applies to any ship with the words "TIE" and "Fighter" in the ship name on the pilot cards. TIE/fo Fighter and TIE/sf Fighter both qualify. Both those ship types are explicitly included in Youngster's entry on page 14 of the FAQ.

On paper this looks solid. The reality is you'll be beating yourself up and watching ships get burned down faster than you'd hope. The problem is the S/Fs don't have enough ways to clear or avoid stress and maneuver effectively with expose. So you have to effectively collapse the dial or your stressing and not getting the benefit of expose anyways defeating the purpose. Also you could conceivably get only one round with expose as Youngster will be the first target unless a ship exposes and makes itself easy prey with 1-2 defense dice and no way to modify those dice as the actions were spent to expose.

Nah, I he slow rolled his engagement, making a regular round of focus attacks with the SFs, and only in the next round brought Youngster into range, I can see him doing OK.

Of course, that begs the question of how he'd use Expose, since Youngster's high PS literally kills most attempts to use him, without really chaining you to slow formation flying, as you noted.
