What Descent Heroes and Villains would you like to see appear in Runewars Minis? Jaze, Ulla Grimstone, and Reynhart have been standard players in my Descent games. Also, what will it look like to encounter Baron Zachareth, Verimnous, or please, please,... Splig!
I already wrote up what I thought Leoric as a Runemaster might look like on another thread, but here's my summary:
Leoric: 38 points. Dial would be medium maneuverable, with a special and a shift on both dials. That would allow Leoric to either move then blast, or blast then move. Modifier dial has a surge.
Defense: 2, Wounds: 3. Ranged Attack: White, Blue. Melee Attack: Red.
Ranged Attack, Surge Surge: Choose an enemy unit within 1-3 of the target unit. That unit suffers 1 damage = to unstable runes.
Brutal 1; Precise 1
Upgrade Cards: Unique: 4 points, +1 Defense. Artifact: 2 points, +1 Surge
Leoric Rationale: Leoric is the classic artillery piece, able to do massive damage to his target and splash damage on those unlucky enough to be nearby. There is nothing subtle about what Leoric does. With the artifact and surge modifier he can pretty much guarantee his ability to splash damage onto nearby units, but there's a little unpredictability as it depends on the availability of unstable runes. He might do well to be paired with a Greyhaven Channeler in a magic-heavy list.
Splig: 31 points. Dial would be slow and would have an initiative 3 skill. He would have shift 1 and 2 on the modifier dial. He would have surge on the modifier dial.
Defense: 3. Wounds: 4. Melee Attack: White, Red.
Skill: Choose a unit within 1-3. That unit may immediately perform a Shift 2 action and then make an attack. The unit then gains a panic token
Surge Surge: Immediately perform a Shift 2 Action.
Brutal 1
Upgrade cards: Unique: 2 points, Splig does not take panic tokens for disengaging. Artifact: 6 points, surges may not be spent when attacking Splig.
Splig Rationale: Splig is OK in a fight, and pretty tough. But he really excels as the ultimate controller, cajoling his allies into fighting harder and saving Splig himself from danger. He's also the ultimate coward. His dial allows him to forgo his own attacks in order to bully whip his subordinates into protecting him and attacking in their own right, a process his subordinates might find bewildering. His upgrades are defensive, rather than offensive, but his ability to affect nearby allies is what makes him powerful. With just Waiqar, he might not make a ton of sense. But if we ever get a release that includes goblins, he would be pretty awesome to pair with some disposable goblin archers. I made him slightly cheaper than Kari because he won't be easy to use as he will be dependent on having nearby units. Also, while he improves the offensive effectiveness of a nearby unit, he does so at a slight cost, making them more vulnerable to morale checks and probably putting them physically in the way of threats in order to save his own weakish self.
