4 Combat Ship list

By jamie nasmyth, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So having been running around with 2 transports they are boring me and I want to try something else. So I am trying to build a list with 4 combat ships and at least one should be on a large base. Not necessarily the most optimal but **** it star wars is about mile long ships shooting each other...... Any way I bring this for your consideration and possible derision

Really the only thing I don't like about this fleet is the objectives, with madine, all your ships are ultra maneuverable, getting stuck with station assault or contested outpost basically means sitting still to hold objectives...

Blockade run may be a good fun mode for this since all your ships can essentially reach speed 4, otherwise it can't hurt to have opening salvo or most wanted to add attack dice.

I'd say this fleet could be a fun contender for capture the VIP too, a speed 4 anything will not be easy to chase down and kill, jamming barrier might be cool too, as it could reduce fire on your ships until they're in range, especially for that mc30 built to use black dice...

Just some thoughts lol

I'm very wary about taking Jamming Barrier without VCXs. Have you had any success with that?

I have tried Jamming barrier without VCX's, there absence was not too much of an issue. However I did find with my opponent running short range ships like a MC30 T it hurt me more than them. I think it would be worth trying out blockade run. Though when I have played against it I hung back and was able to hammer the incoming ships. Yellow remains a hard choice for this fleet and I remain to find something I would be really happy with.

If you are prepared to swap out one YT for one VCX then you have a no-brainer objective choice in VIP. First activation, use a single squad command to drag the VIP next to one of your TRC-90s. Second activation : nab it an run with 50 points in the bag. They're fast enough that you shouldn't get it killed if you don't want to.

There are a few setups that can spoil this for you but they're niche enough that if someone can do it, then they've already geared their build heavily towards that strategy anyway. More often than not you'll be safe with it. If not, you have the firepower to duke it out anyway.

Having played against Jamming barrier, I feel it strongly benefits a carrier/bomber build. The carriers can skirt along on their side of the barrier projecting the bombers forward for damage.

"activations", not "turns"

I like it. You have to admit, it's hard not to feel naked when you don't have a flotilla for a skip-turn buffer eh?

I tried recently a similar list but with an AF as carrier, 2 MC30s and 1 Corvette

I actually had a similar idea on a whim. I wanted to find a use for an MC80 as well. I went with the pelta over the torpedo frigate because then they both present prow on just a bit better, though your strategic may be more deadly upon examination.

Typo

Actually the more I think the more Madine is great for this. Maybe entrapment formation and engine techs on the pelta would be a good fit...
