If you can't bring TLT, what do you bring?

I have always had a fondness for the Blaster Turret, at least until R4 was nerfed and Kavil lost his free mod. But with Synced Turret coming out, I'm very excited. And Kavil isn't even really punished for using it because rerolls. I believe it may even make a case for BTL Y-Wings to resurge.

What do you folks think?

I agree, looks like Kavil will benefit from it. I'll be interested in using the synced turret with the Ghost and FCS.

Outside of that, I do like using the Dorsal Turret with the Ghost. Doesn't pack a huge punch, but matched with the Phantom, it does great for that additional end of combat shot.

I used to love ion turrets, but there's such an abundance of large-based ships that it doesn't quite have the same impact these days.

Yeah, unfortunately. The only build I use the Ion Turret with is a very unorthodox. I will say that I do think people underrate Ion tokens as compared to Stress tokens, and while there's a lot of ways to inflict stress, there isn't as many ways to put down Ions. Ions have a turret slot that stress doesn't, but stress has a number of crew slots, an astromech, a pilot...

Autoblaster turret is a strong one on the ghost or on a five y-wing list. Blaster turret on the moldy crow is always good. I like dorsal turret on the attack shuttle. Ion turret works great if you fly two y-wings in formation, or on a double tap ghost that way it's easier to affect large base ships. I think synchro turret is gonna work well on every ship that can take it as an alternative to TLT. Having said that, TLT is the best turret in the game and the only turret the K-wing likes to take.

I like to run the Ion Turrett on the HWK with Dace. One pop and it's two damage plus a white Straight-1 next movement phase. It gets really brutal if the target is stressed. Using the HWK green1 to clear stress every turn and still stay in range, I was able to chain Ion tokens w/2damage on a single ship for 3 consecutive rounds while blocking it twice with my other ships to deny it's actions. I won that game. Kavil had the TLT w/Trick shot throwing 4-5reds times two, but that night the HWK was to be feared.

Yeah, my list has the Ion & TLT swapped. I like Kavil more for getting the Ion to stick, and Dace doesn't need to be that close to trigger his ability. The final piece of that puzzle is Asajj w/ Tac to double stress targets.

In addition, Autothruster Aces aren't so common these days, despite the prevalence of turrets like TLT, largely, I believe because with the balancing that the Emporer got ImpAces was dropped.

... So Kavel's out-of-arc bonus die helps land the Ion. That's pretty nice. I had EU to try to maneuver behind obstacles so I'd get the Trickshot bonus but throwing 5 dice for TLT only brings 2 damage no matter how BA it looks. I was throwing Ion from a Focus/TLd Dace for the HWKs terrible dial allowed him to slow roll through combat and troll the ionized ship and with the possibility of an EMP. (Side note: I finallay used the EMP last night on the third game of this list and it made a large base ship coast too close to the edge and it flew off the next round. Beautiful!)

Does the TLT draw too much attention to the HWK? It has 3 less HP than the Y-Wing. Not a glass cannon by any means but people tend to ignore the HWK as is. Also, what crew do you put with Dace?
