Terrain 3d

By Keithandor, in Runewars Rules Questions

Hi all

just got my starter set so I'm busy painting , haven't played yet.

Is the game designed for only 2d terrain?

will putting hills and all sorts of nice terrain the table be a problem with the movement templates?

It shouldn't be a problem with the way movement and terrain interact. To eliminate any issues, I would use/build 3D terrain that fits on the cardboard terrain. That way you can pull the 3D terrain while it's in the way.

If you've got custom terrain that won't allow trays to fit on/under it, you have two options.

1) Declare that the terrain has no capacity value. This means the terrain is treated as an obstacle and cannot be occupied by units. (See rule 81.1 for more information on capacity.)

2) Take a single figure from the unit and place it on top of the terrain to represent that the unit is occupying that terrain. The rest of the unit is placed off of the play area. (See rule 81.2).

If you use custom 3D terrain, feel free to assign keywords to your terrain from the list in 81.9. The system seems pretty easy to use for adapting custom terrain to these game rules.
