Need advice......

By clanofwolves, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

So I'm wanting to fly my Lambda that fits in scheme-wise with my Royal Guard Interceptors. I kinda am tired of the White Space Cow. I like a lot of the custom jobs I've seen, but they don't fit the Royal billing. Ideas? I was thinking about commissioning it as it needs the paints, tools and expertise to make it really look great and although I am a somewhat gifted artist, I don't have the tools, paint, experience or time really.

Ideas??

I did turn this white sparkly ugly Bluetooth speaker given me....

into a mess...

and then into something decent looking...

....but it took way to long, and I used rattle-can paint and very non-correct kinda things/ways. And, I could never make anything look good to run with this:

I actually think a nice dark grey like you've got on the bluetooth speaker with some red accents could look very nice. Maybe a stenciled-on Imperial Cog on the upper wing and some stripes on the lower wings?

If you do decide to commission it, there are several of us on the P&M board that do that.

Yes, I do not want to tackle it...and I know others could do better and have the equipment and skills. I'm open to guys on the board for sure!

The Lambda is Actually a nice canvas to work on.

My Re-repaint was very simple.

The model is White, so there is a base, I gave it a fine sanding with a 240 grit sanding pad.

then applied the Imperial Navy Logo " vinyl sticker off eBay " and then sprayed the model Black....with Automotive acrylic spray can paint.

I then masked the circle of the imperial logo, so now its black and white.

and gave the model a light over spray with grey automotive primer, light coats in different directions gives a panel shade with the black underneath.

then the model was lightly drybrushed with a lighter shade of grey, red stripes masked with Tamiya masking tape.

and a 00.5 small tip black liner pen used to basically draw around the panel lines to make it crisp and clean, inking gives a muddy look on such large panel surfaces.

I always spray a mat clear coat over the whole model when its finished "Humbrol Spray Acrylic no 49"

and clear gloss the glass for the canopy.

Hope that little bit of info helps.

P.s......Love the blue tooth speaker !

Looks superb with the darker grey finish.

All the best,

Barry.

Nice job Barry, ....I get what you're saying, maybe with time and told? Who knows ?

Well done.

Cheers Clan,

look forward to seeing yours when the time comes.

All the best,

Barry.
