Ships from other properties.

By Rozial, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I like making ships in the system from other properties. I've done a good few from Halo and the Old Republic era. I was wondering what property I should start trying to translate over next. Should I do more of the former two or another property. I was thinking Mass Effect but it's almost all guesswork since they haven't put out official stats. I was also thinking of Eve Online. What do you guys think?

I always thought that the U.S.S. Defiant from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, if scaled down to roughly YT-1300 size, had a design that would fit in nicely in Star Wars. So, years ago, I did just that.

Very nice. It looks good. Lot of Hard Points.

Battlestar Galactica? You've got one-man fighters and light scout ships all the way up to the battlestars, plus Cylon ships (which I envision similarly to the Vulture, Hyena, and tri-fighter droids).

Once upon a time, brainstorming to come up with ways for my group to have some large scale victories against the Empire, my eyes fell on my classic Cylon Base Star model next to a Micro Machines Star Destroyer. Thus was born the Imperial Starbreaker-class battle platform.

So how many hardpoints do you think a TARDIS has?

Don't know, but it's bigger on the inside ;)

All of them?

Sil 1, maybe 2.

Encumbrance: infinite.

passenger capacity: infinite.

The leviathan ships from Farscape.

The various ships from Babylon 5. You've got fighters and cap ships, as well as the insanely powerful ships of the First Ones.

The UEG Ishimura from Dead Space 1. I plan on putting my party through it, and see how they handle the necromorphs (I've written my own rules for these guys, very hard to kill through damage alone), and the ship itself would be a good reward, so it'd be nice to have stats for it.

I don't want to think about the Breach rating of shadow vessel weaponry !

Yeah, or the Vorlon :D I would probably list it on the sheet as

Breach: Yes, all your breaches, it takes them, all of them, every day. You are pantsless sir! Good day to you!

I mean the Vorlon planet killers were powerful enough to basically be Death Star's, as they could blast a planet to death.

But the younger races ships would be perfectly serviceable. Star Furies, Earth Force cap ships, Membari ships, the Centauri and Narn, all of them would be perfectly doable, stat wise, and be on par with stuff in Star Wars. Though the Membari cap ships would have to be seriously better than the others, as they were very clearly declared to be, while not as powerful as the First Ones, WAY more powerful than the other young races like themselves.

Space 4X games would be worth taking a look at: Master of Orion, Galactic Civilizations, etc. There are some great designs to be found in those.

Captain future. I loved that show as a child. And that is the great german intro for the show, the american and especially the japanese intros are extremely horrible.

Oh Yes!

I am gonna try and rebuild the Comet in KSP using mods, might make a video from that attempt.

I would say that the Comet is Sil 4, 2 crew, 6 passengers, limited cargo space, quad heavy laser cannon, very fast, agile and good shields.

I did basically the same thing back in summer of 1996 when WEG still had the license, by the way the grendel on this page

Yep. My original conversion was back during our WEG campaign. After making my character's Defiant-inspired ship - the Iron Angel - I went back and made the base model DS-9. It was one of the first ships I converted over to FFG after I started playing last year.

In my FFG's version I have used every ship in Battlesar Galactica. And I mean every type ship. The Galactica & Pegasus. Both types of Vipers as well as many variants of Raptors. Cylon fighters and Basestars. In my WEG game I have used all manner of other IP ships. Klingon vessels were especially popular. The Gunstar from The Last Starfighter was a favorite of mine.

I have to be really careful with cross-adaptations because I know that I can get carried away. For my current SW campaign, I've thus far limited myself to sci-fi properties from within a few years of the release of Episode IV. So far this has included Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, The Black Hole, and some aliens from the Micronauts toy line.

That reminds me...

The Cygnus from The Black Hole serves as the (roughly) Executor scale flagship of the Holy Church of the Instrumentality's Lord High Papal, the Revelation. I'm still deciding on standard fighters for the Church, and the Buck Rogers star fighters are on the short list. Meanwhile, while not ships, V.I.N.Cent from the Black Hole has been brought in as the base of a (commercial failure) Arakyd attempt at a military astromech http://myswrpg.com/vr42-astromech/ and the Space Glider Micronaut will serve as the basis for Instrumentality air personnel. (You don't happen to know of a good image of the glider pack, do you? I haven't had any luck finding one.)
