A worse AT is a solution to all our problems?

Turrets reign supreme, and there is little you can do about them if you are not one of the select few ships sporting a "boost" action, allowing you to take Autothrusters.

Now, I don't think PWT-s or Turrets in general are bad in the game, but they definitely have a larger influence than it could be expected in a game about "outmaneuvering your opponents".

Some ships are mostly unviable because they can't take the only solution to turrets, because they lack the boost action. I was thinking about this when it came to my mind...

This is a tough one because a lot of ships that hate TLTs (Vader, Whisper, Strikers) already have that mod slot occupied. I think its simpler to just allow defensive range bonuses to secondary weapon turrets.

Just add another standard bonus die (like you get from primary weapons @ range 3 and through obstacles, etc.) that applies to all shots out of arc.

Problem with giving ranged bonus to secondary weapons is that the cannons would really suffer.

This. A thousand times this... I'm fine with the out of arc caveat too... but that's an ever shrinking space.

Wouldn't it have been great if we had done way back made 'engines' a upgrade slot type? Just saying.

Only if we somehow also buff Ion Turrets to compensate.

Actually, Soontir - and his friends in Interceptors - would gladly take this next to autothrusters... I can even see Interceptors coming back due to their supreme turret dodging ability, carving a niche out for themselves next to the tsunami of red dice that is Fenn Rau.

1 point less for a non-discard Stealth Device? That'd be an auto-include if ever there was one.

Well, but it is conditional, and doesn't do anything against non-turret ships. I think it is priced well.

I was quoting the "adds one mod slot", not the original post...

An objectively worse AT would be to reroll one blank when out of arc. It's not an auto Evade, but it allows you to reroll to a Focus or Evade (or another blank).

It doesn't increase you maximum Evade chance like an additional die, and it will turn up an Evade result less often than AT.

I'd just take current AT as written, remove the range 3 part, make it 1 point, and make it only for ships without boost.

That makes it a 1 point situational upgrade. If you take it you risk games it never gets used, but for only 1 point might be worth the insurance.
