Why is this place dead?

Not entirely sure what's happening at the upper level but it at my local level stores have just stopped running tournaments. Whereas we had many store events in the area through 2016 there have been none in 2017 (So I don't even have the spring-kit Officer Promos yet). I live in the SF Bay Area so no shortage of players you would think... I don't really understand. My own attention has been waning since there are lots great videogames along with plenty of important real-life stuff to worry about. I can't make it to Worlds (weekday schedule is unfortunate) and, as I stated: local events are non-existant. :(

What I hope is that FFG is short-staffed right now after Paul left (and with all the other stuff going on for worlds prep and their other games). But what I fear is that the interest in the game has capped off for a multitude of reasons.

I'm hopeful for a turnaround at/after Worlds as I think we've got a great community here.

I live near Sacramento and am calling all the stores I can trying to find hosted tournaments. Nothing.
I went down the list of stores on FFG's website and have only found ONE that gave me a definite "Yes" (Game Kastle - Santa Clara). Only two hours away from me...yay... Oh and one in Pleasant Grove, UT (I have family near there, that's how desperate I am).

Let me know if you hear of anything! I created a facebook page called "NorCal Star Wars Imperial Assault" if you'd like to join so we can keep each other informed.

Check out this facebook page for IA in Norcal. Most of the tournaments are in the Bay Area, so still somewhat far for you, but not too bad.

So how did the super secret lists do? The top 16 and on was mostly a series of mirror matches. Scum Hunters on every table.

But seriously, I had a fantastic time, met a bunch of great folks, and learned a lot. Congrats to Daniel on his repeat and Paul for putting up a hell of a fight.

Can't wait for next year.

I really want to know the same thing. Does anyone have stats on list compositions for the whole event, not just the top 16? Anyone bring any non standard lists, like double rancors, double banthas, Ug swarms, different temp alliance choices, etc.?

I don't think I played a single mirror match.

The only things I was keeping to myself were that Jabba is overrated and Shyla is underrated.

If the internet has taught me anything this week, its that it was mirror matches as far as the eye could see last week. /s

Auto-evades are soooo good.

Thanks! I joined that!

I take issue with Jabba being overrated. He's REALLY good in Bantha, since you need those extra cards he draws and the extra points before your list falls apart, plus the third source of focus is strong against other scum lists when you are trying to be super aggressive. If you aren't playing an aggro list, I agree he isn't a good addition.

And every time someone brings Shyla I always ask them why they didn't use ePigs instead. More damage, more health, etc. The whip is cute on the rancor pit map, but in my playtesting, every list we used with either Shyla or ePigs, the ePigs generally resulted in better scores.

I know why this place is dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is because no one follows anything!

if you scroll all the way to the to there is a "follow" button, all you have to is click follow and bam!

you can keep talking in the same chat for longer.

what do you think of that? follow and find what that feels like.

Aye, Pigs do more damage, but they also have to go a lot further to do anything. Never underestimate the ability to re position enemy units. It allows you to set up shots for other units. She can also make good use of hunter cards and has a great personal command card.

So sure, if you were to sit next to each other and flail on things, the pigs will come out on top, but don't think that shyla isn't worth every bit of 8 points.
