Siege Upgrade speculation

By maxam, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Sooo... looking at the Carrion Lancer and Rune Golem expansions, there are at least 3 siege upgrade cards in each box...

If we assume that two in each box are the same as the ones that come in the Core (Frontline Rune Golem, Support Lancer ... one for each mini), then there's at least one new Siege upgrade in each box.

That being the case, I wonder what they may represent? Would these be upgrades giving the alternative ability of the units? For example, rather than spitting Blight, the alternate Support Lancer may trade that for the ability to apply conditional Mortal Strikes, per the solo unit, and the alternate Front Line Rune Golem might be handing out Stun tokens instead of adding Brutal to the unit.

N.B. I know the article states 8 new upgrade cards, but I've got a sneaking suspicion that that's misleading and we will be seeing the same siege upgrade cards from the core, plus the extra(s)

I've been curious about this as well, and was talking about it with Jek.

Maybe it's a siege upgrade that lets you replace two trays instead of one? Two lancers with a 3x4 of reanimates?

Not sure, though I like the idea of "alternate" siege configurations, like a Lancer that gives the Mortal Strike surge?

That is equal parts amazing and terrifying ... I like it!

The other upgrades will probably add their other ability, and maybe a die.

@maxam GET OUT OF MY MIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDD

but for serious, @Tvayumat and I were talking about this thursday or friday, I'm hoping that as you said @maxam they offer different abilities, like for the Golem give them more of a support/defense ability, and the lancer gets more of a frontline/offense ability. Maybe it will literally just be Support Rune Golem and Frontline Carrion Lancer...

An upgrade that lets you put your siege unit in the back row would be kind of cool.

That also looked suspicious to me. Maybe there are more than 1 kind of siege upgrade. We'll soon know (I hope those upgrades come soon)
