Targeting Scramblers and fighters

By Muelmuel, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Card Text:

"While a friendly ship at distance 1-3 is defending at close range, during the Spend Defense Tokens step, you may exhaust this card to force the attacker to reroll up to 4 dice of your choice.'

Sorry if this has been asked before, or if the answer is actually obvious. I was always under the impression that scramblers proc on fighter attack but now seeing this I wonder does the close range here include distance 1 attack from squads? and would it apply to distance 2 attacks in the future if yes? I know it does not proc on rhymer from medium range.

So long as the attack is within close range, it works. Distance 1 is within close range.

Yes.

Also distance 3 and medium range is identical for all practical purposes.

so Rhymerball can get round this?

Yup. Rhymer is an exeption of everything.

No.

Rhymer shoots at Medium range, which is the same as distance 3.

Scramblers apply.

But you only get to trigger it once, and Rhymer n buddies always attack in numbers.

You are confuse or I do.

The defending ship must be at distance 1-3 from targeting scramblers and at close range from the attacker. Rhymer can shoot at medium range to whatever, no matter if Rhymer or the defender is at distance 1-3 of targetting scramblers, and you won't get the benefit from targetting scramblers as long as the attack is not at short range.

Ehh, the scramber need close range. Rhymer can stay at medium range. So the Major can stay out of the range from the scrambler.

The distance 1-3 is the distance the (attacked) friendly ship can be to the interdictor with the targeting scrambler.

Edit: Gah, not fast enough ;)

Lolz.

Thanks guys. I was fixating on the distance 1-3 thing.

Edit: but if I pick up my Dictor and hammer Rhymer n Friends with it, who wins that exchange!

Never mind me. I'm the confused one. Move along. Nothing to see here :)
