Most dice Thrown by one ship

By DarmanSkir, in X-Wing

So I had a question that I can't seem to find any answer to here on the forums:

What is the most (red) dice one ship can throw in one round of combat?

It could be just using the one ship, or with help from another pilots abilities/upgrades (are there any that grant extra dice to friendly ships?) This isn't a "most damage possible" so for instance, I'm not taking Bossk's ability into account. My initial ideas are:

11 Dice at Range 2 in 3 shots through an obstacle

Any Y-wing with an EPT
-Trick Shot
-Twin Laser Turret
-BTL-A4

Throw 3 Dice with primary attack, then 4 Dice twice with TLT

7 Dice at Range 1 in 1 shot through an obstacle

Fenn Rau
-Trick Shot/Opportunist
-Advanced Proton Torpedoes

5 Dice +1 from Pilot ability and 1 from obstacle/opportunist

Anything else anyone can think of? Also, what is the most greens you could throw? What is the most damage you could (potentially) deal?

I've seen a Falcon punch out six with Finn crew and Jan in support. I guess you could boost it to 7 with trick shot.

Norra + Swarm Leader + Finn + Jan, at R1 and with appropriate support, can get 9 red results on 8 dice thrown

Problem with this build is that you need some way of rerolling Finn's blank that doesn't use your TL. Perhaps alongside Shara?

Miranda w/adv. Proton torps and ability w/Jan Ors nearby is 7.

Ndru with fearlessness and cluster missiles is 10 when his ability proc. (2x5).

In one combat round? TFA Chewie (w/ Expose and Finn) with 4 Zs. Let's say Chewie is at range 1 of some target and has them in primary arc. He gets 4 dice + 1 from Expose + 1 from Finn. Chewie gets his own attack + four more if his opponent kills all of his Zs in one round.

5 attacks x 6 dice each = 30 attack dice

EDIT: Scratch that. Instead of Expose give him Trick shot and have his range 1 attack be obstructed. Then give him Gunner. Then assume that Gunner will trigger on the fifth attack, giving him a sixth.

6 attacks x 6 dice each = 36 attack dice

Do I win?

Add Finn for 8

Primary only

The setup: Quickdraw with Trick Shot, with an obstructed shot on an enemy ship at Range 1 out of her front arc, and an obstructed shot at a different enemy ship out of her rear arc. Her action: Expose, courtesy of Youngster at Range 1-2.

First shot, front arc: 2+1 (range) +1(trick shot) +1(expose)= 5

Second shot (from title), rear arc: 2+1 (range) +1(trick shot) +1(expose)= 5

Some madman shoots Quickdraw, putting damage on her. She loses a shield token and...

Third shot, front arc (pilot ability): 2+1 (range) +1(trick shot) +1(expose)= 5

Fourth shot, rear arc (from title): 2+1 (range) +1(trick shot) +1(expose)= 5

=20 attack dice

For most greens I would guess Talonbane(2) +cloaking device(+2) + stealth device(+1), with another ship with bodyguard(+1), range 3(+2) threw a rock(+1) being shot by zuckuss using his ability(+1) for a total of 10 green dice being thrown. I Had a thread for most hypothetical damage in a single round but it didn't take off. My post was the following

Point Total: 85/100

Ship 1: "Quick draw"

Opportunist

Electronic Baffle

Special Ops training

Ship 2: "Back Draft"

Opportunist

Electronic Baffle

Special Ops training

Ship 3: "youngster"

Expose

Explanation: Youngster moves into range 1 of a large base ship right in front of him. Expose as his action. Backdraft moves up beside the large ship with both firing arcs on the large base ship. Expose is his action thanks to youngster. Quickdraw does the same as backdraft but on the other side of the large base ship. Expose is her action thanks to youngster.

Shooting phase. Quickdraw attacks through her primary adding an extra dice from Opportunist but no extra dice from title card to gain a 2nd attack and gains a stress, electronic baffle is used to remove the stress and takes a damage removing a shield. First front attack is 2+1(range)+1(Expose)+1(opportunist) for 5 crits. First rear attack is 2+1(range)+1(Expose)+1(opportunist) using electronic baffle to remove stress again for 5 crits. Since a shield is removed from quickdraw she attacks again with her primary weapon. Second front attack is 2+1(range)+1(Expose)+1(opportunist) using electronic baffle to remove stress again for 5 crits. Second rear attack is 2+1(range)+1(Expose)+1(opportunist) using electronic baffle to remove stress again for 5 crits. Quickdraw is down to 2 hull because of electronic baffle and has done 20 crits.

Backdraft attacks through his primary adding an extra dice from Opportunist but no extra dice from title card to gain a 2nd attack and gains a stress, electronic baffle is used to remove the stress and takes a damage removing a shield. Front attack is 2+1(range)+1(expose)+1(opportunist)+1 crit (he is attacking a ship that is in his aux. firing arc but also in his main firing arc, his ability does not state he has to fire through his rear to gain the crit) for 6 crits. Rear attack for 2+1(range)+1(expose)+1(opportunist)+1 crit for another 6 crits. Backdraft is down to 3 hull and 2 shield from baffleing once and has done 12 crits.

Youngster fires with expose for 2+1(range)+1(expose) for 4 crits.

Total damage in one round: 20+12+4=36 crits worth of damage and with all direct hits flipped as well as both major explosions being the last two crits and both going off = 33(the entire deck)+7(extra damage from direct hit)+1(major explosion chaining into one another with the last adding the extra)+ 5 extra crits that are unable to be resolved since there is no more crit deck = 46 damage in a single turn . 46/85 is a .54 damage to point list ratio.

A starviper with title would have one more greenie than Talonbane and his ilk.

TBC rolls the same number of greens as a StarViper at range 3.

By the way in Epic you can have a ship roll 17 green dice in one attack:

Guri with Cloaking Device and Stealth (Agility 6). Manaroo uses Bodyguard to bump her up to 7. She is being attacked by a Single Turbolaser (doubles Agility). The attack is also obstructed by a ship equipped with EM Emitter (+3 greens).

(3 + 2 + 1 + 1)x2 + 3 = 17 green dice

Scum (22)

N'Dru Suhlak (22) - Z-95 Headhunter
Trick Shot (0), Cluster Missiles (4), Black Market Slicer Tools (1)

This is 13 in a turn.

N'dru +1 per attack

Trick Shot +1 per attack

cluster missile 2 atks at 3 each

slicer tools one dice if stressed.

Not very helpful since I don't know any details: Someone at Hoth used QD with a Decimator and Baffles and I don't know what all an rolled 11 reds in one attack.

I think by one ship the Norran, Swarm leader, Finn, A-Wings, Jan list is the one that gets you the most red dice in the mix. I'm not sure how you reroll Finn's die tho!

Personally, I think the only "competitive" heavy dice throw is: Jess w/swarm leader, 2 A-wings/juke/snap, Jan Ors/dorsal/nein/trickshot. It can throw 6-7 dice pretty regularly from Jess, 2-3 dice from the A-Wings, 3-4 dice from Jan with Dorsal turret. I flew this in a store tournament and got second. Best round I had was: 4 dice from A-Wing snap shot, 6 dice from A-Wings R1 attack, 3 dice from Jan with R1 Dorsal, 7 dice from Jess R1. Bye bye Ghost. Thats 20 red dice! With Mods even!

There are y-wings outside of rebels as well. More factions use old derelict Clone war birds. latest?cb=20141103175528 Ept and gets 1 die more.

In one attack? 9. Norra with Swarm Leader, Finn, and Jan in a HWK, in various ways. The way I worked out is Cool Hand on Jan and M9G8 on a Y Wing to get the reroll of Finn's die, but there are others.

In one round, probably Quickdraw with Snap Shot. 2 dice for Snap Shot plus 2 lots of 2x3 dice =14.

Yeah that's not possible without cheating somehow or misunderstanding something, unless he's counting rerolls or Gunner as part of the same attack.

9 dice is the absolute maximum (currently...) in one single attack roll.

Actually, Quickdraw with Opportunist and Electronic Baffles can do 16, by baffling away the stress from Opportunist each time.

QD with Swarm Leader. 2 3D attacks (front and back range 1) plus 2d for each with SL. That's 10 dice in a single attack.

Well, you wouldn't be able to reroll the dice from Finn in any way, and I'm not sure gunner counts. But you can get 28 attack dice in one combat round with chewie with trick shot and cluster missiles.

cluster missile with trick shot 4 x 2 dice + 5 x 4 dice = 28 attack dice

If we replace one headhunter with Gunner, and assumes that every first attack miss, we will get to 43.

Cluster missiles 4 x 2 + gunner 5 + 5 x 3 dice x 2 with gunner

4x2+5+5x3x2= 43 attack dice

No, that's 10 dice in two attacks.

Shara Bay + Cool Hand + M9G8 + Chopper

Norra (3), Range 1 (+1), Jan Ors (+1, discards Cool Hand for an evade), Swarm Leader (+2, Jan Evade and Shara evade post red maneuver), Finn (+1), Norra's ability (+1).

With Shara, you can spend her TL to get Norra's added Focus, M9G8 to reroll Finn's blank, and have taken a Focus action with Norra that turn for 9 hits.

Bossk with HLC, Trick Shot, IG-88D crew, Gunner crew, Dengar crew
IG-88B

Thanks to Bossk's dual arcs, the defender could be at Range 2 in arc for HLC and Range 1 for primary. Then let's say they're parked on a rock.

Shoot with HLC for 5, miss, trigger both IG-88B and Gunner, take a second HLC shot for 5, then take a Gunner primary shot for another 5.

That's 15 dice from 3 attacks with Dengar rerolls.
