Rulebook Structure

By Hawkman2000, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Apologies if this has already been asked, but what's the rulebook structure going to be like for this game?

For example, when I used to play Warhammer and 40K, they used a core rulebook that was updated each edition and then individual army books that were updated sporadically.

This would lead to some individual army rulebooks not being updated in a timely manner (Dark Eldar).

FFG doesn't generally sell rule books separately (except for RPGs). The core game has a rules reference, and I'd imagine some of the army expansions will come with inserts explaining a few new rules -- but that's it. No splatbooks and no new edition every two weeks.

If it follows the same pattern as FFGs other games we'll have the Learn to Play and Rules Reference Guide available online that rarely get updated. Additionally there will be Tournament Regulations and a FAQ that both recieve several updates a year.

I do hope that FFG updates the Rules Reference witg some frequency instead of just relying on FAQ updates.

So, individual armies will not have their own books included with their respective core sets? Does that mean those armies have all their own special rules included on their character sheets (or whatever they use)?

All of an armies rules and upgrade cards will be in thier armies upgrade boxes.

Rules are contained on unit cards and unit upgrades, for the most part. There will be some new rules in expansions. For example, the Overgrow mechanic will be something new in the Latari Elves Army Expansion. We don't know if that will be on a rulesheet or a rules card or what.

@Hawkman2000 New rules will likely be handled as they are in xwing. In xwing every expansion that has a keyword or mechanic that is not in the main rules has a reference card that explains the rules for that keyword/mechanic.

There is never any need to. All of their information is on the cards and upgrades. FFG keeps costs down and Gain high. All the rules are in the rulebook and in expansions (elves will have that with the Overgrowth mechanic)

I played 40k and I love the fact that all I have to remember of each faction is their dials

Think Magic the Gathering For miniatures.

In that case I have a playset of boost.
