Nice Reivew. I wonder if they recommend Dark Tone or Strong Tone. Both are listed on the checklist.
No secret figures hidden here. I'm a little bit annoyed they never showed off the other colour scheme from the swamp basing tutorial as the silver and purple feet look interesting.
Nice one. But sadly no guide for faces, thats where i have the most problems with.

That's kind of outside of the scope of these guides. The Army Painter guide to faces would pretty much be:
1. Splash some Barbarian Flesh onto the face.
2. Drown model in Quickshade™.
3. BOOM! Done.
Not being critical here. That's totally how I handled the faces on my Daqan and I think I am pretty much the target demographic for these guides.

thanks for your point of view. don't paint eyes? my humanoids always squint or have a much bigger eye on one side XD Orc faces and eyes are much easier
Yay, excited to see the variety of schemes suggested here
.
After looking, not many diff color schemes, but that black golem drybrushed teal and turquoise looks ace.

I was being a little facetious there, but I think the audience for these guides are the folks who are new to painting and for whom just getting a painted army onto the table is a big accomplishment. The guides give some direction on where to go next but if you are worried about how your faces look you are beyond using these guides for much more than a reference as to which Army Painter colors to buy if you want to use the same pallet that they did.
Edited by WWHSDi like that sandstone golem they got in there. Lot of golems are stock gray, and even if they are very well done its still....gray stone... i love seeing golems being made out of different types of rock now and then.

Also, you want to be careful. You know how pet owners look like their pets? Miniatures gamers can (because of the squinting and eye strain) also end up looking like their models.
I would just highlight the chin and nose in a mix of Barbarian Flesh and White or lighter flesh tone.
It's a pity they had to add the tips for boiling spears. I really liked all of the alternative paint schemes in the undead guide.

Agree!! I find the Daqan guide lacking. I find the Waiqar guide was far more informative. It looks like that just threw the Daqan together quickly. Maybe they will generate a second addition with more than blue armored soldiers.
