Is scum quad TLT still competitive?

By Chief Hugh, in X-Wing

I'm thinking of taking a scum quad TLT list to a tournament. Is it still completive and what tips or advice can you give me about flying them?

Put BTL on all of them to at least make it a challenge to fly. :)

As with any spam list, it has good matchups and bad ones. It's still certainly competitive, but if you come across brobots, you're probably hosed.

3 Ywing TLT's with Torkil Mux can cause some hurt, but with a list like that if someone brings something like mindlink aces to the table, you'll probably have a hard time dealing with it.

Only advice I can really think of is to just make sure that your opponents ships are never at range 1, ha.

Be prepared for dirty looks from your opponents.

It is definitely competitive on the local level, but not so much in higher level events. By now, experienced players know how to beat this list. For new or average players it's a great list to fly because of the shear number of red dice you're throwing at the enemy ships!

I recently played a guy at a tournament who ran thug life and then spent the latter part of the game complaining about how broken rebel regen is when he started losing.

So I guess my advice is just to not suck any more fun out of the game than the list already can do.

It will probably always remain competitive unless they change how TLT work (probably not likely). 2 TLT + Asajj or Dengar is also really strong. Probably more than 4 TLT. IMO a 50 pts Asajj is better because shes fully loaded with all the "good stuff" :-)

It depends on how many players are in the tournament. I find that the more players there are (and the more rounds) the less competitive it becomes because of the low MOV it gets.

No, it's not competitive at all. No one should run this if they want to win.*

Not sure if quad is that good, but I do like the idea of BTL tittle, do that and fly well, get more out of your ships.

TLT lists are solid and easy to fly for the damage output.

But it's considered a somewhat negative play experience. Who am I kidding, it is THE negative play experience.

that said, play it while you can; when Imps fly TLTs on the Aggressor, FFG will nerf it to uselessness.

Who knows what will happen with TLT.

I might put the next wave of ships I get in a cupboard for six months, and then find out what I've bought...

Imps are getting the Avenger?!!! If only.

mind you putting a TLT on the Avenger is heresy.

Any ships that combine decent agility with Autothrusters will probably eat TLT spam for breakfast. On the other hand, they are decent against Defenders that rely on a finite token stack for survival and a real menace to big ships.

It would be kinda nasty if they give TLT to Imperials only to nerf them after everyone bought 4x Aggressor. Especially after the Palp (1 Raider needed) and Defender (3x ships needed) changes. My guess is a big fix is comming for Imps with the next wave. They keep dropping in list Juggler since the nerf. The best build is currently in 9th position... Cant wait for the individuals previews. Meanwhile i'm playing EZ mode with scums :-)

Uh, my mistake. I'm not up on non-standard TIE variants. Aggressor is what I meant, I'll correct. BTW, what is a TIE Avenger??

Yep, TLTs fate lies with the Aggressor. But it comes with one, so they playtested them together, right?

This.

I too see little use paddling so hard uphill with the current Imperial Fleet when my Scum ships can offer fun and power. I also have been playing more with my Rebel builds too, my B-Wings have been used a lot and triple T-70s have actually been very effective. I hate the current state of the game in my heart, but I'm learning about all my ships more....silver lining?

Yup still competitive. Although there are starting to be a growing number of half TLT lists (i.e. party buss + 2 TLT thugs or Fen + 2 TLT thugs) to deal with all the anti-TLT measures that are being placed. Any build that can take on a single TLT Y-wing can take on all 4 at the same time.

Based on TIE Fighter you'd basically be looking at a TIE Interceptor with 2 Shields and possibly even a systems slot. It was the updated version of Vader's TIE Advanced that happened to have quad lasers instead of just twin lasers. It may also be looked at a slightly softer TIE Defender without the cannon slot and maybe not as much shield.

Considering the HATE you see some express here for the TLT that would be getting off easy. In a slightly less civilized world I wonder if you wouldn't get spit on, have rocks thrown at you, or even get tarred and feathered.

Love the TIE Avenger description, I love it!!

And the latter paragraph, you got that right....in LGS games, someone puts that down, look out. In casual home games, no one would table that, ever.

thx, haha!!!!

Yup TIE Avenger, The TIE Aggressor is just the Imperial Y-wing, less hit points, more agility, better dial, but still some how worse :P

You seen the dial?

I'm sure, even if the dial is better, it'll be surely be inferior to Rebs and Scum TLT....d**n mouse.

salty?
