Well, what could such a courtier, who already traffics with criminal elements and is too pushy for their own good, do that would get them forced out of the Clan, but wasn't so bad that it didn't end in worse?

You're right. It managed to totally slip my mind that even if said courtier school is infamous for dealing with the criminal element, they still have to maintain plausible deniability and keep their On.
