ran pretty well against an inquisitor+mixed swarm list but bombed against defenders. Jank it up.

Tweaked your idea slightly:

Tycho w/ Rage, Refit, EI, title, Daredevil
Ibtisam w/ VI, FCS, title, Hera
Braylen w/ R3/A2, Gunner, title

Ibby getting VI will match Tycho at PS8, which is always a nice place to be, as well as giving you some movement utility. FCS gives you back the rerolls you'd lose from not having Wired.
Daredevil on Tycho will give you an extra movement option, since he's much more limited once stressed (and lets face it, he's going to stay stressed). It'll also make his end movement less predictable, which may help you get out of trouble.
Braylen instead of the Y because he can just push more damage while still double stressing, and can do so from front and back arcs (pro-tip: when starting your attack from the front arc, declare that you're not using Alliance Overhaul for this attack. That'll let you roll two dice instead of three, which has a better chance of being naturally evaded vs high agility aces. Stick on the stress, then trigger Gunner. Declare that you will use your title for this attack, boosting you back to three attack dice. Worst case, they dodge that too, and you've double stressed them. Best case, they'll take damage and a second stress). Also, remember that Gunner starts a whole new attack, so if you've just put a stress on an already stressed ship, you can always declare someone else and double stress two in a single swipe.

This leaves you with 4 points left to play with, so you can put that Mangler back on Ibby, but I'd suggest an Ion Cannon. On top of making it much easier for Ibby to track the ioned ship, any ace that's both ioned and stressed (from Braylen, or their own triggers) is a dead ace. This also gives you a 1pt initiative bid, which can be really handy with two PS8 aces in there.

Both versions look fun. How did you fly it, if I may ask? Ibtisam and the Y-wing together, Tycho darting around as he does? Or something else?

The other positioning option rather than EI and Daredevil is PTL and Vectored Thrusters. I guess it's a matter of preference whether you want the barrel roll or turn-boost, but I agree he needs some unpredictability. Also gives you an extra point to play with.

The barrel roll can be nice, but bear in mind you can pull ridiculous things like hard-1 turn into a boost, into Daredevil, which almost brings you 270 around.

To be fair, though, I haven't played around with A-wings toting VT much, so maybe it has more use than I'm crediting, there.

I think PTL Vectored is a better option than EI daredevil for the versatility of actions, but i do still like the Rage+Prockets combo

I played it with Abby and the Y wing together, Ibby further forward so the Y could take pot shots from range while Tycho looped around behind to ace things with his prockets.

I'm unsure about what to do with Abby, he gets 2x rerolls constantly, but the 1 agility is forever his bane. He's fine at the start of the game, because i have him hiding behind debris fields until the last moment...
