Anyone else annoyed that range 1 is longer than the other ranges?
Not that its a big deal, but I just found it annoying when measuring the setup areas i had to use the correct side to get a range 1-3 measurement.

It's the exact same way in Armada. Range one is a little bit longer than any of the other range bands. You'll get used to it.

Im used to Xwing where is the same, I just find it odd.
My biggest complaint is the range 1 end has the two tails/spikes that are very prone to wear ... at least more so than the square edged other end at range 5.
We need acrylics stat.
We definitely need acrylics (or wood!), though may I say that when I read the rulebook for the first time and saw the tail was made to fit on the corner of trays, I was so impressed by the designer who thought of that little detail.

It's perfectly natural to be jealous of other, longer ranges, but remember - somewhere there's a girl out there who will love you just the way you are!

Totally annoyed! We've been using the 4-5 end in our games for setting up terrain and objectives

And I love the little groove that fits the corners, very well thought out.
Theres an acrylic shop near me. Has laser cnc machine I'm gonna wander over there this weekend and see if he can laser me up an acrylic one and maybe some tokens for reasonable price

I can appreciate using that end to measure movement distances, but I assume whenever the rules mention 1-X range (terrain/object placement, abilities and effects) they mean using the end of the ruler with the slightly longer range 1 band.
I wonder if range one is longer to make the range ruler a less accurate replacement for the straight maneuver templates. You are permitted to measure range from anything at anytime but you can't premeasure with movement templates. It doesn't throw things off by much but it still leaves some uncertainty.
