Slam Questions

By Epixca, in X-Wing Rules Questions

1. If you use slam to do a red maneuver, do you get stressed?

2. If I have Burnout Slam on IG-88D, can I do a S-Loop Turn for my slam?

Yes and yes

Can you back it up with the 1st question? In the rules I didn't see anything saying I would get stressed.

Because you're executing a red maneuver so you go through the check pilot stress step again and receive a stress token

To be specific:

Quote

a. Move Ship: Slide the maneuver template between the front guides of the ship’s base so that it is flush against the base. Then pick up the ship and place it at the opposite end of the template, sliding the rear guides of the base into the opposite end of the template.

b. Check Pilot Stress: If the maneuver is red, assign one stress token to the ship ; if the maneuver is green, remove one stress token from the ship.

c. Clean Up: Return the maneuver template to the pile of maneuver templates. Place the revealed dial outside the play area next to the ship’s Ship card.

This is how you execute a manoeuvre. SLAM is executing a manoeuvre.

Does this mean a K-wing with Chopper crew can 1 straight SLAM 1 straight, take a damage, and remove two stress? (I realize not that order).

Theoretically yes.

EDIT: Actually in practice yes, but when are you planning on having 2 stress on your K-wing. That seems like the tail end of a really bad turn.

It was actually a single stress and an ion token, I did the white move from the Ion and SLAMmed a green bank. It was a terrible turn. We spent a good few minutes trying to read the FAQ and didn't find anything obvious.

In practice no. SLAM is an action. So green maneuver remove one stress still stressed and no action.
