Jyn and more than one arc

By The Inquisitor, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Let's say I have Jyn Erso on a VCX-100. Using her action:

Action: Choose 1 friendly ship at Range 1-2. Assign 1 focus token to that ship for each enemy ship inside your firing arc at Range 1-3. You cannot assign more than 3 focus tokens in this way.

There's an enemy ship in my front arc and another in my rear arc. My understanding is the rear arc on the VCX does count and it can be used for this purpose. Here's the question: can I use both arcs for the purposes of Jyn and get 2 focuses? Or do I have to pick one arc singular and apply the effect as the card says "inside your firing arc"?

Anything in either of your arcs is inside your firing arc. You don't have to pick just one.

All Arc are Firing Arcs be they primary, secondary, auxiliary, or even mobile. Unless the arc type is specified (usually the Primary Firing Arc) any of them will count.

Two important things to note are that the Mobile Arc only covers one zone at a time even if that zone can be repositioned and that some weapons (ie turrets) specifically allow attack OUTSIDE of your firing arc. In the case of turrets we often say they have a 360 degree firing arc but that is completely wrong when it comes to actual game terms.

Sure, the rear arc counts. The argument presented is that because it says "inside your firing arc" as a singular, that means you pick a firing arc and resolve the ability for that arc, in the same way that you can only actually fire out of one arc.

Now see where you're coming from but it is still all part of the ship's overall "firing arc" which just happens to have holes in it most of the time.

Say you don't have the shuttle docked and you don't have torpedoes. You can't use your rear firing arc. Does that matter? The card doesn't indicate, but I could see an argument there potentially.

It does not matter. The special arc still counts as a firing arc even if you can't fire out of it.

For mobile arcs, each section is a quadrant, and only is considered an arc if if has the mobile arc token in it or is the primary arc.
