Rogue Trader minis?

By Troy813, in Rogue Trader Gamemasters

Anyone got some good links to some RT miniatures.

I'm not having good luck.

I have found a few "traders, 'masters, explorators..." but as far as Astropaths, and Missionaries.... Im not too happy with what I am finding.

I am really looking for something affordable .. like 2 - 5 bucks. I am not looking to get some $15 Games Workshop fig.

Thanks

Have a look at Heresy Miniatures . The bloke who runs it is an ex-GW staffer, and is friendly, talented and makes some very tasty cheap minis (with the exception of the big demon-prince types, and the upcoming dragon). Even if none of his sci-fi minis grab you straight away, the fantasy range is pretty **** extensive and varied, and he has partnership deals with a number of similarly cool companies (Spyglass, Hasslefree and I believe one more whose name escapes me).

Yea.. nice work at Heresy games

Thanks for the info.

I'm particularly fond of some of Heresy's tributes.

Reaper Miniatures ( www.reapermini.com/ ) is a little more expensive but generally higher quality. Watch out browsing at work though, some very adolescent miniatures grace their product lines. I'd start with the Chronoscope range, lots of interesting and eccentric characters there.

Similaraly, Hasslefree Miniatures ( www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/ ) has a wide range of generic minis to populate your crew.

Privateer Press and Urban Mammoth ( privateerpress.com/ www.urbanmammoth.com/ ) are other great sets, though quite tailored to their own worlds. Privateer Press tend to sell their miniatures through third parties, so you'll need to look around if you want to buy some.

Likewise West Wind Productions ( www.westwindproductions.co.uk/ )'s Secrets of the Third Reich has a few special characters that fit quite well, though you may need to file off emblems.

There's another studio I'm trying to remember the name of too. I'll edit this or make another post if it comes to me.

Those look great also .

Always nice to find new miniture companies.

You could also try Iron Wind Metals. While they are mostly a Battletech supporter they do have some fantasy style mini's and most of the work I have seen from them is top notch.

I find it odd how games workshop has not caught on that a lot of Rogue Trader and Dark Heresy players would pick up minis if they have a line of singles of various associated miniatures. It is funny that we are on a board for a game related to 40K, and that everytime we see a thread like this people always look at GWs competitors. Now I just want to say I am not a GW fanboy, when they killed necromunda all those years ago it turned me off, but I just don't understand their business model. If they put Rogue trader/Dark heresy content in White Dwarf they would get more people playing both games.

Sorry for the rant. I would also recommend super figs, and infinity.

You could also look at Star Mogul miniatures from alphaforge games

Also it's worth noting that the very early GW / citadel miniatures from the time of the original Rogue Trader tabletop game might be worth looking at. They had some nice models in the 'adventurers' range as well as neat individual guard characters, astropaths, chaos thugs and other 'crew' (adeptus mechanicus models, adeptus custodes even, etc.). Pictures of those can be found on www.solegends.com.

What I wouldn't give to find my Taal Spellsinger mini...

Now, this is way out of your low price range, but the models from Inquisitor are pretty cool looking, and some of them are absolutely perfect for Rogue Trader characters. But, well, at around 30 bucks a pop, I think I can live without them

They're also around twice the size of all the other suggestions so far (being 54mm). Which does kinda make the pricetag understandable. Somewhat (I've seen some wonderful and fairly cheap 54mm from Spyglass, another affiliate of Hasslefree and Heresy).

If you're going to run a miniatures-heavy campaign, I'd suggest getting everyone to chip in. The rule we (tried before giving up on pulling miniatures out every 2 seconds), was that each PC was responsible for his or her own 'PC model', and the GM/others willing would try to kitbash/jointly-buy a small stash of 'generic' NPC figures. Nothing too exact or WYSIWYG; just a 'yeah, he's an arbite, he's a ganger' level of distinction really.

We got this pretty much done with 40k figures. It should be even easier if you're (more than) willing to expand outside GW models.

Man, I can't believe I forgot Warzone. It was the miniatures game of the mutant chronicles rpg. They work very well for Dark Heresy and rogue trader as well.

It's really a shame you don't want to use GW minatures beacouse this pack is gold for a rouge trader campaign

All models fit right in.

Maybe you could split with another player, that takes the pack down to 8,5.

Pfft. Not if you're a female Rogue Trader captain. Or, you know, a female anything .

Apparently Games Workshop believes in the geek fallacy that girls don't game. (Oh noes! Girls on the Interwebs?) They could make a lot of money if they had suitable minis for females who play more than just Sisters of Battle. (I play one of them, too, but the RT mini I just picked up is from FreeBooter.)

Or us males who like to roleplay female pcs from time to time. I've played some DH and noticed the lack of female miniatures for the 40K line and now am looking at Rogue Trader and I totally agree. I grabbed most of the links posted here so I'll be shopping around and will look at that Freebooter line too probably.
