Which non-character cards are you looking forward to most?

By WonderWAAAGH, in Star Wars: Destiny

Now that we're well past the pre-launch event, I figure it's open season on card discussion. For those of you who might not be up to speed, the complete set is viewable at https://swdestinydb.com/set/SoR . SoR does more than just up the power level, it presents a whole lot of new opportunities for deck construction. Which non-character cards really get your creative juices flowing?

For my part, I can't wait to squeeze Lure of Power into every blue villain deck imaginable. This card is just so versatile; it's damage every time you want it to be, ramps up your resources when you need it, and even advances mill strategies. There isn't a deck that won't be improved by its inclusion, and it deftly dodges most (or all) play restrictions. How annoyed will your opponent be when you slap 3 shields on your Royal Guard?

I also think lure of power may be a nice sleeper card/die. It's versatility will see play in what I believe will be all decks except aggro.

I really want to play training on 3x Death tooper list to see how 5 dice work.

I'm definitely liking the look of "Training" just for the ability to double up on your Tie Pilot Dice making it that much harder for your opponent to remove or interact with your other ranged damage you have on the board. The versatility though when you have multiple targets for it helps as well.

Also in a similar vein "wingman" looks to be a really solid card as well.

Both look like interesting options. My go-to deck has been Sisters and Troopers, but with SoR on the precipice of release I've decided to swap out one Sister for the Pilot. Haven't decided whether Training or Wingman are worth it for non-Death Troopers yet, and I'm also on the fence about the new heavy blaster pistol. The ability to remove a pay die seems really strong, but maybe a bit too conditional. For just two resources and 3 damage faces it might still be worth it.

I got lucky enough to pull one during the prerelease and I can tell you that it's a great upgrade!

Used it to boost my ressources, to boost that range damage on some blue dice, to discard more cards. And what's even better is that it is not Blue character only so you can give it to Grievous, Jango (hey that melee side can do a little more damage now!), Jabba, etc....

Would be interested to see your list for your current Sisters/Troopers deck. I have one as well, but it sucks... (very possible it's just that I am a bad player and/or not playing this deck well :) ) I also am looking to get hold of 1 X Tie Pilot and replace one of the Sisters.

+1 for "Lure of Power"

"Decisive Blow" is the cat's meow for me. Got it in pre-release and put a copy in a deck I have. WOW! Was able to neutralize a fully loaded Dooku! Expensive and conditional, but very powerful!

As far as stuff I haven't actually played with yet? Pretty eager to try out "Anger" and "Attrition" in the aforementioned Sisters/Troopers deck.

It's boring, but I'm looking forward to all the little enhancements to my eQui-Gon/eRey deck coming in this new set. 'Your Eyes Can Deceive You' obviously, but also 'Synchronicity' and 'Momentum Shift' (assuming it works the way I think it works) will be great.

I am hoping I can give my Leia / Padme deck a push in the right direction.

Eh, they'll probably update the rules to say that move =/= take, gain, or give. That makes both Momentum Shift and Air Superiority less bueno for QGJ. Still waiting on a viable red partner to pair him with for Resistance HQ.

Oh, my deck's not all that hot either. I refused to build any of the popular varieties, despite owning most or all of the villain cards. Still won my fair share of games with it, against arguably better decks even, so skill must count for something. I think I mostly just enjoyed the synergy between non-unique characters and blank die faces, so Anger and Lure of Power ought to combo well with my previous inclusions of Nowhere to Run and Power of the Dark Side.

I don't think Momentum Shift will be that good for Qui-Gon/Rey. I am fortunate enough to have 2 Vibroknifes and 2 Synchronicity. Q/R is the first (only) deck I put them in. My opponents became very reluctant to put the effort into shielding their characters after just a couple of games.

I think if Momentum Shift came out in Awakenings it would provide a bigger impact.

Vibroknife and Wingman are the 2 non-character cards I was most looking forward to and I've used them both. Neither have disappointed.

I put 2 Wingman in eAckbar/eLeia along with Planetary Uprising. It was fun and impressive.

For helping make Obi-Rey work, i'm excited for Destiny, My ally is the force, and Decisive blow.

These I feel are critical cards that can turn the tide.

On my Jyn-Ackbar deck, Rebel, and Rebel Assault, and Lone Operative

-This is aside from the obvious vibroknife, hands, speed, C3P0

Of the cards I don't have yet, I think Slave 1 is one of the cards I want the most and cant wait to try.

4 damage side is nasty, and the potencial of its special. Sure, the opponent can choose the target, but you can move them back to your primary target with relentless pursuit. For only 4 points, I think it will get played often.

It will fit nicely in my Jango/Aurra Sing team.

I will build my Veershicle (Veers+Vehicles) deck thanks to Slave I (looks as good as AT-ST) , Salvo, an dthe new BF that let's you play Supports with a discount. Fun deck, not competitive but really fun.

On a competitive point of view:

Sinchronicity, Vibroknife, Your Eyes can Deceive You and My Ally is the Force in eQuiGon-eRey

Con Artist in eJabba-eDooku

Wingman and Overkill in e Ackbar-eLeia (awesome cards!)

I feel like "Dark Presence" will find it's way into my already fairly slow moving Kylo/Dooku deck, For a 0 cost support, having Dookus discard sides offer me a small amount of dice control is a nice little kicker - if not incredibly overwhelming.

Meditate has me similarly intrigued.

On the other side of the table I feel like Qui Gon decks get a pretty sweet boost from "Synchronicity" and "Your Eyes can Deceive you".

Short answer: Blue cards. All the blue cards. Yaaay the force!

"Manipulate" also will be cool for a deck like this (or any deck which runs double Trooper).

For my Padme/Rey deck I like Con Artist a lot. Also Lone Operative might be a welcome addition.

There are a bunch. SOR as a whole is more powerful than Awakenings. Both sets together are already adding much depth to the game.
