That's the L5R community for you

By Tetsuhiko, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

4 hours later, 10 pages of discussion. (and counting)

You have people discussing the finer points of deckbuilding and card balance and we don't know all the rules yet. This is awesome.

A few of us are really bored. The rest are just nuts.

Or procrastinating on the things we really ought to be doing. :-)

Ouch...That burn hurts

I saw the announcement went live and then someone came to my desk for a meeting, couldn't concentrate on what was being said, jsut wanted to read L5R!

I had a meeting too! Longest 90 minutes of my life, even though there was food at the end.

I was doing yard work for my grandma like a good boy. You all make me sick. Just kidding, I was itching to get done so I could come read all of this.

Makes me feel a bit like old times cruising the clan forum(s) trying to catch up on reading posts.

My buddies and I have been reminiscing today about all of the crazy games we had lol. So to say we are jazzed would be an understatement.

Bored nuts. Like salted nuts, but without the salt...or nuts.

Advantage of being laid off: can read L5R updates as soon as the come out. Disadvantage of being laid off: affording 3 core sets of L5R.

I didn't even play the original CCG and I am considering writing a "Design and Rules Implications on Meta and Play" post/borderline article...
Why? Because new LCGs are exciting and because I am really REALLY hoping I finally find a home with a new hobby game not just one time boardgames.

A quick update. It's been a week and we have 3 and a half pages of new topics, and the original topic has itself reached 36 pages.

Just to keep things interesting, the L5R forum now has close to 18,000 posts, which is more than AgoT 2.0, and Netrunner. It is also almost as good as Cthulhu and Star Wars, even though it is clearly more recent and the game isn't even out yet.

All the AGoT discussion happens on Cardgamedb and Netrunner discussion goes on Stimhack so these are not good yardsticks to measure "L5R awesomeness".

Even Stimhack isn't a good measure as most people talk on the Stimhack Slack, Stimslack, than in the Stimhack forums anymore.

L5R community is by far most passionate in card/board gaming I've ever met.
Glad and proud to be the part of it.

Nuts with holes drilled in them?

I second that emotion.

On the other hand, there is a very active reddit and Facebook L5R community (and probably more, but I'm not very familiar with them), so the forum themselves aren't the only indicator of any game awesomeness.

Add to that 21 posts discussing the 10+ pages .... :D

Each clan has their own forum, where we plot the downfall of other clans, and complain about how terrible everything is for our clan.

I have all my decks built. Ready to go!
