Should I get?

By Ken at Sunrise, in Star Wars: Armada

I only have the first few waves and then only one of each.

1 Core
1 Victory
1 CR-90
1 Neb B
1 Assault Frigate Mk II
1 Gladiator
1 ISD
1 Home One
2 Raiders
2 Transports

I'm planning on getting the Liberty and Interdictor. I like the Interdictor looks and theme.

I was thinking of getting a second Assault Frigate Mk II and Gladiator since they appeared in pairs in so many squads. But the Phoenix Home and the Imperial Light Cruiser are both in canon, Rebels and one was in the movie. Rather than a second Assault Frigate Mk II and Gladiator, should I get Phoenix Home or the Imperial Light Cruiser? Both? One Assault Frigate and one Imperial Light Cruiser? Just keep getting one of each until my storage is full?

P.S. thank you for your help. I collect more than I play which is why I'm tempted to buy ships I don't own. But knowing what I have what is best for the game. I do have two each of the Imperial and Rebellion original fighters. I'm not really interested in the newer ones.

As someone who just started playing the game I'm always in favor of one of each so you can try at least 1 of everything even if something is helpful in multiples. Everyone has a different play style and might like or not like certain ships. So far the only expansion I've bought more than 1 of has been the GR75 and Rebel Fighters 1 each of which I have 2 of (currently only a Rebel player). You'll probably have a larger amount of people say to skip Phoenix Home and grab a second Assault Frigate, but I'd always go for new and just try it out. Definitely grab the Imperial Light Cruiser though.

I would always recommend grabbing the ships you domn't have up. You may be a collector but as you do play you will find many of the upgrades in those expansions of great us accross your fleet.

1 of each tends to be the way to go. The main reason I get duplicates is for the upgrades. I've only made 1 fleet with 2 AFs or 2 Glads.

Getting new expansions will give you more freedom in fleet building. New upgrades, and more importantly, new commanders and officers. Once you play with the new ships, you can make a better decision of getting another one or something new.

I would pick up the extra ships you don't have (and mentioned) to build out your collection. The interdictor looks good next to both the ISD and the VSD. If you didn't want to pick up the Interdictor I would suggest a 2nd ISD as they just look good flanking your Imperial Fleet.

If you want to eventually focus on building your fleet out for game play, I would suggest getting a second gladiator. The Interdictor is a little tricky to fly right, but once you figure it out it can be a deadly weapon. I've forced many fleets into a bad or intentional deployment with my Interdictor.

If you're just playing for fun, get the ships you like.

I can tell you the interdictor was my favorite ship from the EU, in Armada, it tends not to hit the board a lot, as it doesn't fit my play style. I still snagged two of them. Love the **** thing lol

I would say snag one of each until you have an idea of what you want, then build from there.

(Never hurts to have two ISDs ;D)

Will second or third or how ever many times it has been mentioned get one of each first. Nice to get at least one copy of all the upgrades available. It also gives you a chance to really figure out what you like. Then you can go from there on what you need in duplicate or triplicate.

You have everything you need for a great game. To be honest, at this point if you insist on continuing to buy for collection sake, then just get what you like the look of.

I really have no thematic interest in Phoenix Home at all. But the Imperial Light Cruiser fits a navy build. At the same time I don't want my collection to be too lobsided. Honestly I was getting the Interdictor just to have it and maybe create a homebrewed scenario. I love the looks and what it was suppose to do, act as part of a blockade and keep them from fleeing. So I was getting the Liberty as an off-set to the Interdictor.

I collected everything and before I could play my first game, then got side tracked into something else that's been taking up our time. Thank you for saying what you did; I was hoping what I had was sufficient for a few good games. I wanted a stopping point to my purchases as I'm not going the route I took with X-Wing. It's just that the Light Cruiser seemed to fit the theme, maybe if I can fit into my existing storage I'll get one just because.

Thanks everyone.

I'd only own doubles of things you really enjoy playing with. I own 2 of almost every ship and there's only a few I actually use both of them.

You must do what you think is right, of course.

If you have a fleet build you REALLY want to run that absolutely requires duplicates, get duplicates, otherwise, just stick with one of each.

Does anyone have dimensions, in inches, of Armada's Imperial Light Cruiser?

I'm not sure if this is how you're supposed to write inches, but if it helps, the converter gave me about 3"x1.4"x0.8", rounding very slightly up and including the plastic bit that connects to the stand.

Thanks, I knew it didn't look right. Even when I used points instead of commas like a proper Anglophone!

The Gladiators can operate at lonely, or in pairs or even in 3s or even nowadays in 4s. They are extremely robust in their threat potential.

AFs are not as versatile. Trying to fly 3 requires lots of practice, however their firepower is immense. Unfortunately, due to heavy 134 squadron meta, Ackbar AFs are currently extremely hard countered and you usually cannot fit 3 AFs Ackbar and enough flotillas and squadrons to not make you auto lose vs MSU and squadrons. (Big ship problem). I recommend 2. Flying 3 requires practice, especially if you do not do a conga line formation.

Pelta seems to be good as just a 1 of.

The Arquitens.... I haven't really run it, but it seems to be best either as 1 for giggles, or 3+ for similarity within the battle line. (Ex with intel Officer). I have two. most lists I see want to run 3.

Neither Liberty or Interdictor have been making strong competitive waves. However they are beautiful models and look fun for playing, but are hard to build around.

From your opinions: I recommend a 2nd AF and 1 Arquitens.

If I read this correctly you do not have an Mc30.

I would recommend that and the imperial light cruiser. Both are great ships which in my opinion add a lot to there respective faction. Thanks mc 30 is quick and packs a punch. The imperial light cruiser has a focus n Broadside attack strategy that is lacking in the imperial fleet sofar. It s not menuverable but with Moff JJ it's amazing.

Oops, yes I have an MC30c. Great news. With the dimensions I can fit 2 Assault Frigates and 2 Gladiators and still fit one Imperial Light Cruiser. Whoo Hoo!

Thanks, and it fits theme too.
