Nail Polish Remover...

... Have some handy.

Nail polish remover is a solvent for super glue. You're going to need it. I had considered myself a sort of expert when it came to not gluing my fingers together. And while I expected a couple of little sticks here and there, I wasn't prepared for the epic finger sticks that I'me going to blame on those fiddly archer arms. I don't think I'm going to be able to get into my iPhone using finger print recognition for the next few weeks. And my wife, being a New Yorker, gets her nails done instead of doing them herself, so we weren't exactly stocked up on nail polish remover. It's no fun driving to Walgreens with your fingers stuck together.

By the way, for those of you who don't know, water is an accelerant for super glue. In other words, water makes super glue harden faster, so don't go rushing over to the sink when you get a little super glue spill. By the way, this is also a helpful hobby tip. If you're have trouble getting something to stick or can't hold something in place long enough for it to dry, a little spritz of water will set it pretty quick. Beware though: using water weakens the super glue bond and can also cause it to run all over the place, so be careful how you apply this wisdom.

Thanks for listening to my little Public Service Announcement. Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.

Careful!

Nail polish remover has acetone, and acetone can eat/melt your pvc figures.

Alternatively: Put your model in the freezer. Cold superglue is brittle superglue.

Cold is usually how i deal with bad glue. And with how many models ive assembled i dont think ive ever had any accidents requiring a knife or something to re-open my hand like so many people have been claiming. Super glue doesnt like the cold, even months or years after it cured. Dunno how many times ive left my models in my car during winter, grab them the next day, and one of my larger models suddenly has no arms lol. Clean snaps are easy to fix though so meh no biggie.

And PVC is nice and flexible, too.

This means the cold method works better than it does on styrene, where the plastic may break before the glue does.

Oh Jeez, good tip on not putting acetone and PVC models together. I hadn't even thought of that and I hope no one got the impression I was suggesting that.

I was really focused on getting my fingers apart, and it's a bit more difficult to put them in the freezer for a couple of hours. :D

CLR will strip acrylic paint without harming the figure.

Many years ago a friend of my Mum had some eye troubles, each evening she would put a line of ointment in her eye, usually after the lights were turned off.

Tip: Don't give your self a nail repair job and leave the super glue on the bedside table.

That sounds like a fun day in the ER.

Ive heard that kind of horror story before. Woman asks her friend to grab eyedrops from her purse and its superglue. Why you'd have superglue in a purse is beyond me but im not a woman so yeah like i'd know.

I dunno what would suck worse, the heat superglue puts off as it cures directly on your eyeball or the process to get it out. Both are undesirable...
