Vassal Question/Tech. Issue

By John Rainbow, in X-Wing

Playing on Vassal last night against a friend and we got to a point where could no longer move stuff between his player hand and the board - almost seemed like his hand was 'locked'. I could still interact with my stuff normally. It was a bit weird and the only way we managed to fix this was by saving the game state and reloading. We tried a few other things like respawning the tokens, etc but it didn't work. Any thoughts on this one anyone? Is this a known issue? Is there some odd combo of buttons one of us pressed to lock the hand?

I've had this happen once, IIRC it was when both of us were trying to use the same rangefinder line at the same time. We solved it by undoing until we got back past the point which had locked the screen.

Hmm. Interesting thanks. I guess there are still a few bugs to be worked out!

once auto range finders is coded in, this will be much less of an issue. Still lots to do before reaching that point though.

edit:

for reference's sake, this LoS (line of sight) tool is a basic thing part of the vassal engine, that you can easily add to any game module. It's been part of the x-wing module since before I took it over back in wave 3. I've never tampered with it in all that time, except to add a 3rd one, that calculates distances in pixels rather than ranges, so you can test several lines between ships in order to find the shortest one.

The fact that it does bug when 2 players try to use it at the same time is something that should be dealt with the vassal admin developpers, not me. Like I said, we'll do without that tool entirely in a few weeks/months.
