White Dwarf was once independent, literally and editorially. GW was once a hobbyist oriented games company. Today, White Dwarf exclusively deals with GW products and is nothing more than a mouthpiece for their publicity department and GW is a notoriously litigious, badly run, company which makes money licensing its IP to other companies and making vastly overpriced miniatures to go with the rulesets that they deliberately alter on a regular basis with an eye on encouraging (or sometimes forcing) players to replace miniatures with newer editions.

You hit one of my bigger fears now that FFG is invested in GW's IPs what will happen if they sell it to next bidder once the contract runs out(or try to twist out even more from FFG). The sad part is the way GW dumps on their fans and they still buy from them. Remember when they came out with DH I was excited about it, no home brew game, a game from the creators. It sold out, I didnt even get a copy untill FFG took over, and they discontinued it before they even started. Im just happy that FFG is producing the books and not GW. Im sorry if offend GW supporters, but its the fans that been holding up the company and not the company supporting the fans IMO.
GW has been passed from 'management team' to 'management team' over the last few decades with some surprising owners, including, if I recall correctly, Boots (aye, the pharmacy chain). My point is that it no longer really has anyone who cares about the systems, backgrounds, fans or even the staff and they do not understand their market so they keep mismanaging it.
