"When another friendly ship within range 1..." But not herself? Checked most recent errata/FAQ, nothing. Yeah, she can be within range 1 of self, but she can't be "ANOTHER friendly ship".

You are correct; Howlrunner cannot use her own ability.

X-Wing is all about action economy and what howlrunner does (when flown with a swarm) is basically provide a target lock for seven TIE fighters.

Well, it's a 1 die reroll, so that's half a target lock.

Yes, you are at Range 1 of yourself, but you are not other than yourself. There are abilities in the game that you can use on yourself or another nearby ship, but Howlrunner is not among them.

Note that such abilities would exclude the word "other" (see Jan Ors crew).
