The First Order

By TheTechWookiee, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm trying to go a little thematic with this list in the sense of using First Order pilots/ships. Just thought I'd see what people's thoughts are. I almost went with Mara Jade over Kylo to possibly hit opponents with multiple stress, but I figured as far as overall "theme" goes Kylo fit better, and will be nice for Backdraft's added crits.

THE FIRST ORDER

100 points

PILOTS

Lieutenant Dormitz (40)
Upsilon-class Shuttle (31), Fire-Control System (2), Rebel Captive (3), Kylo Ren (3), Hyperwave Comm Scanner (1)

“Backdraft” (34)
Special Forces TIE (27), Crack Shot (1), Fire-Control System (2), Pattern Analyzer (2), Special Ops Training (0), Lightweight Frame (2)

“Omega Leader” (26)
TIE/fo Fighter (21), Comm Relay (3), Juke (2)

Well, I just played a very similar list against a Bossk list and got wiped. Seriously wiped. I will try it again a couple times but I am skeptical at this point.

It's a cool list, I just think you have too many points in the shuttle there, (especially as it can't turn) and not really enough of an Alpha strike list to make use of Dormitz' ability.

You might want to consider using similar upgrades on Kylo, or Stridan with more supportive crew

I know Kylo is the go-to and cheaper, but I'd love to try.....

Major Stridan (43)
Stridan's Upsilon-class Shuttle (32), Advanced Sensors (3), Systems Officer (3), General Hux (5)

“Backdraft” (31)
Special Forces TIE (27), Fire-Control System (2), Special Ops Training (0), Lightweight Frame (2)

“Omega Leader” (26)
TIE/fo Fighter (21), Comm Relay (3), Juke (2)

I had purchased a Upsilon the day they arrived at my LGS, but I had it still unopened when my brother-in-law had a birthday and the wife was like, "we need a gift, quick." He plays. It was given. Now I have to get one. Ahhhhh well.

Systems officer is only 2 points

I'm not necessarily looking for it to be super competitive, but hopefully at least a little fun for casual. Doubt I'd put it in a tournament.

Yeah I just picked one up this past weekend. Gonna try a few things with it this week hopefully. Although I was quite satisfied with Deathfire, Ryad, and Vessery this past weekend.

I've been trying FO theme list lately and been getting mixed results. I've tried Backdraft, Quickdraw, Omega Leader lists and they need something beefy subbed in.

Here's what I've come up with:

"Omega Leader" (21)
Juke (2)
Comm Relay (3)

Starkiller Base Pilot (30)
Collision Detector (0)
General Hux (5)
Inspiring Recruit (1)
Pattern Analyzer (2)

"Quickdraw" (29)
Crack Shot (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Pattern Analyzer (2)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Special Ops Training (0)

Total: 100

i wanted Stridan, but all of the Upsilon's group abilities (Hux, Coordinate, Inspiring Recruit) are 1-2 already, so Stridan isn't adding as much as if it were only range 1 abilities.

Run the biggest debris available.

How it starts in my head:

Upsilon takes a green maneuver on the round of engagement. PA to action before check stress. Hux the boys, take the stress. PA check stress and remove.

Following round:

Upsilon plows through debris to acquire advantageous position. CD for no damage. PA to action before stress. Hux the boys, take the stress. Then take another stress for debris. Next round green, Inspiring Recruit. Stress free.

Or

Upsilon dials in 0 stop/1 hard/3 hard to maintain position. PA to action before stress. Hux the boys, etc.

Or

Plow through debris with a red maneuver, PA to Hux, then stack 3 stress. Next green will remove two. Hope it was worth it.

I like the idea of giving the aces an extra focus to modify defense.

Oh man, I'd not really thought about the fact you can clear Hux stress on the same turn by doing a green with Pattern and analyzer. Hmmm

Kind of relevant to the list I'm enjoying at the moment too. Kylo is a ship most folk don't want to shoot, being able to barrel roll means he can keep opponents in arc much more easily, especially bigger & slower ships.

Oicunn has a PWT and Vader to take care of aces, if he gets blocked he does auto damage and still has Dice mods from predator.

Wampa is a distraction/blocker, but still a major threat to ships that don't have a huge amount of Hull. Ignoring him can often be a big mistake.

Upsilon-class Shuttle: · Kylo Ren (34)
Expert Handling (2)
Collision Detector (0)
Pattern Analyzer (2)

TIE/sf Fighter: · "Backdraft" (27)
Adaptability (Increase) (0)
Fire Control System (2)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Special Ops Training (0)

TIE Avanced Prototype: · The Inquisitor (25)
Push The Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
TIE/v1 (1)
-- TOTAL ------- 100p. --

Not sure if Wampa is a waste of time and I'd be better off pimping the other 2 ships out. Thing is I think 3 ship lists are harder for opponents to manage and there's a lot of versatility here.

I run a first order list with Backdraft, omega leader, zeta leader and epsilon leader. I have had lots of success with it. Not a big fan of the shuttle. Too expensive for me
