No, THIS is what being privileged to live in the 3rd Largest City in the United States AND having pre-ordered and been willing to spend the money to get what I wanted looks like. I am not entitled to jack squat. If you want it, you put the circumstances in place so it makes it more likely you can get it.

"If you want to play the game, just pick up and move to a bigger city!"

Yeah, totally, no sense of privilege there...

Is it privilege or entitlement? Hard to keep track of your BS buzzwords...

I am "privileged" , in the sense that I fought to get to a real city and it is my "privilege" to live in such a wonderfully populated and diverse place where I have access to most anything I could want.

Yes, privilege and circumstance are huge selling points for all that empathy you're oozing right now.

Waagh, Sorry man, but I save my empathy for causes that need it... and this whining ain't one of them.

As a rule, people who truly work for what they've got recognize the barriers to getting there. Privilege and entitlement generally go hand in hand as that sense that you deserve what you got, but anybody else is just a whining, entitled brat.

I suspect that's a level of awareness beyond your capability, though.

You may be confusing empathy with sympathy.

Yes, you are right, of course. I am completely incapable of seeing how difficult it was to preorder or drive to where product was, buy on Ebay and trade with others.

Unfortunately, you have misstated my position. I never said I deserved anything. I did go get it. I did put myself in a position where I could. I never said I deserved anything though.

I don't know how to tell you this, but you will not be sent to the Gulag if you don't buy this product.

Or, to put it another way, no one is feeding you anything with you having no choice but to accept it. You don't like the way FFG is doing this? Join the club. But for you to act like anyone owes you anything is a joke. This is the way the game is. Due to the way that they have to manufacture it and the cost and lead time, they can't do the quantities that strictly card games can. Again, you don't like it, go pout and pound sand.

You are acting as if you are entitled to product. You are not.

eBay is full of people that cashed out, if you can't deal, maybe you should consider doing the same.

god your such a tool lol, yes I do have a choice my choice is not live in a fantasy world and call a spade a spade and make them accountable.

once they announce the product they are obligated to follow through and deliver that product in the time that was stated that it will come out. They do not even produce enough for all the preorders which is supposed to be a way to guarantee having product on time. from what I seen so far ffg does not care as long as they get there money.

am i the only one looking at the long term survival of this game

Magic is a great example of a game that when it first comes out, and is a hit, has all kinds of supply issues for a long time, only to over react and over produce a set. Yes you can still buy Fallen Empires at retail stores. Hasbro has had a couple of decades to figure out their demand and meet it. They still have issues from time to time with product selling out before demand is met.

again magic was the first time it was done

You are correct in my improper word choice. I could empathetize if no one could get any but that was never the case (yeah, there was a harsh secondary market, but if you wanted it you could get it).

Obligated... lol. Dream on. Just a suggestion for you. Wait till the game. is dead and buy collections cheap. That way you can binge all you want and we wont need to hear crying about how FFG owes it to you to support your plastic crack habit.

I hate to disappoint you, but I am not a fan boy, just an old gamer who seems to have a better grasp of the business side of things.

That said, it's just a game and there are a bazillion of them.

yes there is a bazillion of them, ffg is not giving very much reasion to pick this one. Does not matter how good the game is if you cant get any product. how is that a good business move?

As I explained above, there are real reasons not to go all in on this, no matter how badly we all want product.

Will they lose some impatient customers? Maybe. But what is the alternative? Go balls deep and pray that in the 6 month lead time from order to shelves that gamers (a stalwart and never fickle crowd... right?) want to keep buying this like no tomorrow?

If they go moderate, they will sell through. And let's not be goofy here, they had to stop producing SoR to roll back into Awakenings, if you remember the GAMA presentation...

I am sure there will be plenty. Remind yourself to tell me how wrong I am and gloat if you are right 6 months from now...

6 months from now they damage will already been done, they don't have that long to get there act together, and in order to make money you have to spend money. playing it safe will get you no where.

You don't mean that do you?

Don't you mean, the damage has been done and in 6 months time we'll see the effects of that damage.

FFG has put forward a plan, most of us are optimistic that in time it will improve things. I have seen enough games get a rather rocky start and get bigger in time. For both these reasons I don't share your pessimism. Mind you you aren't even close to "glass half full" to you the glass is empty.

I think your assessment is far from correct, in 6 month time we'll see the third expansion and it will disappear off shelves faster than the previous sets. L5R comes out in about 5-6 months, maybe that is going to bring you more joy than Destiny?

I honestly get where you're coming from and agree with the overall sentiment that FFG are cocking this up.

...

But, here's the thing:

Star Wars will still be popular in 6 months. This game has time to gain traction with casuals.

I honestly still expect it will succeed.

The drama in this thread is so entertaining while drinking my morning coffee. I wonder what will happen next, can't wait to find out!

You'll Laugh!

You'll Cry!!

Better than CATS!

Just to share a bit of positivism: we we worried for our small community.

With the effort of all players, our community has doubled its ranks in the last 3 weeks thanks to SoR event and many demo nights.

The Force is strong in this game, I can feel it.

Yes, it has grown because the SoR pre-release events provided optimism, and something to look forward to on May 4th. So when May 4th comes and screws up all that momentum, we will be back at ground zero...

New players are more interested in Awakenings reprint right now. They Just knew about the game and are learning to play. No need to feel underwhelmed.

I feel that these forums's community tends to be quite caustic and pessimistic (sometimes even obnoxious) too much frequently, more than any game forum I have ever used.

I don't get why yet, that has to be the Power of the Dark Side :P

There is a reason for that. About 90% of the people who use a given games/companies forums is in one of two camps. The first is the blind fanboys who will jump down your neck for trying to even suggest that some bad moves MIGHT have bad outcomes some time down the road. The second are the perpetually angered group for which the company can NEVER do anything right and everything is a **** show. Only about 10% of forum users want to actually discuss the positives AND negatives in any way.

"The suspense is terrible. I hope it will last."

Allow me to quickly summarize the forum conversations for pretty much every CCG created since the invention of the internet.

"OMG [insert company name here] SUCKS SO HARD, THE GAME IS DYING I'M GETTING OUT NOW!!!"

[New set/expansion/fix releases - sales skyrocket]

"OMG THIS GAME IS AMAZING, BEST GAME EVER!!!"

[One week later]

"OMG THIS ONE CARD IS BROKEN IT'S RUINING THE WHOLE GAME, HOW COULD [insert company name here] BE SO STUPID? THIS GAME IS DEAD LULZ"

[Two weeks later]

No one is playing the "broken" card, because a counter was found and it turns out it's not that good.

The point of my rambling? People always thing the sky is falling with CCGs. Destiny will be fine. FFG will be fine. We're going through some growing pains for a new game, it happens, everyone calm down.

I come to find out spoilers, conversations about cards and rules clarifications. What I've been reading lately is akin to a mud-slinging political campaign. You know, constant commercials of unconstructive tearing down of the other side. I must say that all this has made this place tedious to visit. I can only hope that in May there is enough product to quell the anger, so that visiting this forum isn't such a drag.
