Dash & Miranda

By FriendofYoda, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Advice needed!

Been trying the following with some success, but wondering if there are better ways to optimize the list. Any and all tips appreciated, what will I struggle against? Tactics vs strong meta right now? Etc...

Dash

Lone Wolf

Title

HLC

Smug. Com.

Burnout SLAM

Rey

Miranda

TLT

Sabine

Adv SLAM

Extra Munitions

Ion Bombs

Cluster Mines

Ahaha that's funny, I've started using a list that's basically the same the only difference being conner net instead of cluster mines. I've been thinking about changing to those, removing SLAM from dash and trading ion bombs for thermal detonators. I find the list to be more fun to play than competitive, although it has the capacity to be if played well. I'm using it mainly to learn how to use bombs, but I'm actually falling in love with it. A thing I've noticed is that Miranda can't go full speed onto the enemy to drop bombs, she'll get shredded, I had her die in the third round of shooting because of that once, I beleive the way to go with her is stay far and shoot with TLT, then when an opportunity reveals itself jump in, it's important to be ok with not attacking and not dropping bombs for a round in favor of good positioning for next round (But I'm a noob with Miranda so maybe all of this is wrong :P ) . I think a neat trick with Dash when people get too close to him is bump until you have a good option to escape. In that game I lost Miranda early I managed to bump 4 or 5 rounds in a row with Han Solo, so he could not attack Dash and I was free to attack the opposing Miranda. I think this Dash struggles against ships with boost, mainly large bases, because he has only the ability to barrel roll once, meaning those guys can keep up with you (Super Kanan Dash is a different story) and stress inducing ships, like rebel captive or R3-A2, because it will severly limit your movement, I played against a rebel captive RAC (Forgetting about the rebel captive) and then I just could not get away fast enough due to him boosting. Miranda is a really solid ship, but requires more training than Dash. I have yet to play against any meta, so no advice on that.

I'm new to these ships and pilots so maybe everything I said is wrong, sorry for the long post, hope it helps, let me know your opinion.

I've been playing almost the same list for a while now and I think it's quite competitive. What gives me trouble is:

- Ships that can't be arcdodged, like big PWTs or TLT Kanan. against tlt you can try to get into range 1 with miranda. against pwts dash at range 3 can usually avoid enough damage to win on the dmg-race, but stay away with miranda, she's too vulnerable with just one green die.

- My own stupidity. This accounts for most of my losses with this list: I get too cocky and end up flying one of my ships in a position where it gets caught by the whole enemy squad, severly damaging or outright destroying it. With only one ship left against 100 pts of enemy you can only try to not wreck your mov any further.

Really, this list is like palp aces with turrets. Run away, run away and then run away some more until you're in a good position to fire (e.g. one where you can fire but your opponent cannot). Bombs imho are a huge trap and get miranda killed more often than not because they temp you to fly miranda way too close to the enemy. Don't rely on them to kill enemy ships but use them strategicly and defensivly and only when theres a good opportunity to strike without getting punished.

As far as list building goes: There isn't much you can change in this list. Try different bombs, try it with and without burnout slam on dash. If you're feeling cocky, try homing missiles on miranda instead of bombs.

I play a version that puts PTL and engine boost on Dash to avoid the issues DanteStorm mentioned above. It's been very competitive too.

I think PTL Dash is better when there aren't too many turret weapons in your meta. otherwise, rey+lone wolf is better because you can evade more damage.
