Should I still try and play this game or am I to late?

Hence the problem. There's been no reasonable entry point for new players since what, December-January?

Honestly, for most casual players, the starter sets are enough to keep them busy for awhile.

I agree, it's a problem, but it's not catastrophic. The scarcity actually contributes to the appeal for a large portion of the possible customers. It builds hype, and most people don't mind waiting.

Why would scarcity contribute to appeal? Scaricty just means it is harder to get product, harder to find events, and harder to find people to play with. None of which sounds very appealing. The only people I can see who are benefiting from the current scarcity is people interested in selling product at a high mark-up and they probably couldn't care less about the game itself.

I disagree casual players thaw want to enjoy the game find a hard time because when they play against people who got the product they see all the stuff they don't and cant have.

You would think, but then maybe you didn't see the massive b*tching that went on here when people were forced to play with starters because they didn't pull any characters from their boosters. I enjoyed playing with modified starters for several weeks after launch, but my experiences were not the norm - and even then, I'd have been pretty vexed if I wasn't able to swap in the cards I wanted.

POSSIBLE CUSTOMERS being the key phrasing in my post. DEDICATED CUSTOMERS are upset, yes. If you don't understand how artificial scarcity is a tool that can be used to leverage interest in a product, you may want to do some googling about how Nike became the juggernaut it is today.

You might want to as well. That's a quick research, just google Michael Jeffrey Jordan...

It worked great for Beanie Babies once.

How about the Nintendo Wii. People would actually camp out in front of stores so they could run in and buy that POS to sell on ebay.

Scarcity creates buzz which sells product. In this case, it was not FFG's intent. They simply had no clue how much people would or wouldn't buy.

I'm talking about the way Nike has taken a choke hold on the secondary sneaker market, and how manufactured scarcity is a winning strategy in that market

Jordan put those designer Nikes on the map, but at this point it doesn't matter who's name they put on those sneakers, people go crazy over them. It's some bizarre metal illness that no one can understand.

As a non or semi competitive player, my suggestion would be plan a head and buy a hole box for every new release. You'll get a good mix and still have room for the random compulsory by of single boosters from time to time

if the things stay the way it is, then getting single packs is not an option

X-wing was almost impossible to find until the third wave. Now, it is one of the most popular (and financially successful) games on the market. For years now, players have been walking into stores to buy all their X-wing needs without issue.

Destiny's growing pains too shall pass.

A reasonable person on an FFG forum? What is this witchcraft?

no a reasonable person see's missteps and the possible damage it can do to the game and is not to fanboyish to admit it. It may get better but ffg has not shown me anything yet to make me come to that conclusion

A reasonable person also separates fact from opinion and truth from emotion. Am I disappointed that Destiny had the issues it did in its opening run? Yes. Does that take away from the fact that it is an amazing game? No. Did convention goers at Star Wars Celebration line up to get the chance to play the game? Yes. Do I wish I could pre-order and know I'll have a box in hand May 4th? Sure. Is it likely that FFG has learned from Awakenings and worked to solve issues they were having? That is what they are reporting.

FFG is in this game for the long hall. That being said, they know they can't repeat what happened with the launching set (and have said as much publicly). It doesn't fix our frustrations now, but soon we will be playing Destiny (if you still choose to) and not even remembering the dreaded Awakening famine.

from the news we might be in for more of the same with this set, everyone who preordered should get a box a sent that what the point of a preorder is to make sure you get product on day one? it does take away from it being an amazing game it does not make a difference how good a game is if it's unattainable to most of the players.

1. You aren't stating facts.

2. Even if you were stating a fact how many times can you state it before it becomes bitching?

3. Once again you are doom and gloom condemning the spirit release. This is bitching

Your bitching highlighted in blue.

1. no thats the facts the article suggesting that exist, just because you don't want it to be does not make it not a fact.

2. your the one following me around getting hurt because I said something you don't like about ffg not me.

3. again facts are facts if it's doom or gloom thats what it is, if it's pony's and unicorns then it's pony and unicorns

Ohs Nos, this has devolved into ponies and unicorns.

It so silly to be saying too late. Cards are coming. Cards are for sale by third parties.

I have never seen a unicorn out where I live but if it is a product of FFG you know it has to be good and rare...and wait, they are very rare, right? I GOT it! FFG are the makers of unicorns! OR....FFG are unicorns! Keep your ponies, I am going to get me a unicorn. I had best preorder now...
