More speculation : 19th April

By Ser Nakata, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

Huh

So is this before or after the 2nd Day of Thunder, in the AEG Storyline? My knowledge of L5R history is only tenuous and I feel like I'll get a faster answer just by asking.

Story has been reset essentially. Forget AEG storyline.

Seems fair.

Looks like a similar deck building cost thing on the bottom of cards like in Netrunner in the Fate deck. I see tick marks on them on the bottom with clan association. I do not see the same association with clan personalities anywhere.

I can't read the stronghold well enough to get any details (Which might be intentional).

Misread the deck names

There are legible strongholds on the product page, which has a description of the differences.

It even starts before the point where the AEG storyline started (for example, Akodo Arasou is alive).

A bit sad to see Hoturi changed to a girl (it means no chance to see the Kachiko/Hoturi relationship again) but I like most of what I saw on the storyline start.

Who says there won't be Kachiko/Hotaru?

Also, there are other things which aren't quite the same. IIRC, Satsume was still alive at the start of the CCg.

Maybe you can!

On the strongholds, looks like bottom right is fate, bottom left might be out of clan personalities (neutral ones or economy?)

We aren't super clear on the economy, unless you just get +7ish each turn, maybe by forgoing the action? I'm guessing it will be a more permanent currency too.

PS: Don't make the same mistake as me, The Product page is different and similar and has more info!

Sure, why not, it could be fun. Not sure if it would be everyone's cup of tea though. :P

I am in favor of this! Just putting that out there right now!

I fear I may have just launched a ship... and slash fics.

Bottom Left is Honor (same image as the tokens used to explain paying for draw), Middle is Fate (same image as what is on the upper left of all the cards it seems), not sure what the bottom right is, unless I missed something in the article...

It's not slash if it's canon.

Its the same tick marks on the bottom of fate cards. I'm guessing deck building restriction rules. Look up influence in Netrunner.

hmm,

The Border Rider has "-lry " peeking out from behind a neighbouring card, so we probably have Cavalry.

Is it just me but the various descriptions between different sections of the Product Page and the Announcement page inconsistent? I also see "Fate", "Dynasty" and "Conflict" decks, and I'm not sure which the conflict is anymore.

I thought I read in one place only the attacker can gain the ring, where another says that the "victor" of a conflict gets it?

Dynasty and Conflict are the decks.

Fate is your expendable resource.

I think that the attacker chooses the ring, but the victor gains the benefits.

victor gets the ring, it says nothing about the benefits, iirc

Well, the ring is the benefits.

I read as the attacker winning only, but could be wrong

We will certainly have cavalry as a bold trait, but I'm not sure if it will do what it did in the ccg or not [yet].

The Border Rider is entirely visible in the news and it indeed has Cavalry.

Air —Take one honor from your opponent or gain two honor from the token pool.

Earth — Draw one card from your conflict deck and discard one random card from your opponent’s hand.

Fire — Choose a character in play and honor or dishonor that character. (Honoring or dishonoring a character has a potent effect on that character’s skill, and causes you to gain or lose honor when that character leaves play.)

Water — Choose a character and ready it or choose a character with no fate and bow it.

Void — Choose a character and remove one fate from it.

I think I saw this as well in the announcement page, but the product page says something different.

No mention of enlightenment. Maybe they felt that it was too easy to get each ring?
