Back5's Waiqar painting WIP

By Back5, in Runewars Painting and Modeling

Got my box on Friday and spent a few hours Saturday and Sunday working on my army. Here are my work in progress pictures so far. My theme is going to be a bronze patina with red cloth. Haven't decided on what color scheme for my Carrion Lancers, but I think I will stick with a pale worm.

Here is my album until I figure out if I want to embed the images. I think there is a limit on how many I can upload?

Nice, the bronze will be awesome. You are braver than me as I can only batch paint about 4 at a time.

Nice. Bronze armor is probably what im going for on my undead, since its a little easier (imo) to make it look worn or tarnished.

Batch painting isnt that hard if you know what youre going for. When i painted my Tau Firewarriors i did them in squads of 12 at a time since they were colorcoded to keep them organized on the board. I wont be painting my Daqan more than one at a time though until i figure out how i want their scheme to go, still unsure how im gonna pull it off or even if i can pull it off.

Nice batch painting, I'm doing my 2 sets of Daqan all-at-once as well.

I agree that that color of Bronze is very nice. Which paint are you using? Are you painting the sides of the movement trays?

I was using a Citadel bronze but the pot was very goopy and tough to thin down, so I had 2 trays of a lighter bronze before switching to Army Painter weapon bronze.

I don't plan on painting the sides but will be basing the trays and models with a combination of grass, rocks and shrubs.

Good luck, that's quite a lot of miniatures to get through

I'm planning a slightly more antiqued shade of bronze. I love the idea of making them look like an antique legion called from the grave.

Yeah, my pot of Citadel Sycorax Bronze went bad and I didn't have an opportunity to go out and replace it :(

I'm sure you can correct it with weathering and shading. Maybe use it to make it look like some of the corrosion is breaking off after moving again after 100 years in a tomb.

Only have the red cloth remaining for the infantry. Need to finish the armor on the archers. I have Ardus x2 finished and started painting the plate armor on the worms as well tonight.

Goal is to have everything painted tomorrow, dip on Saturday and dry by Sunday. Oh, and study at some point as well lol.

I love the inverse Ardus paint schemes. That's a really neat idea!

Updated with Ardus and a couple different Reanimates. Will need to dip tomorrow and let dry for the day and see how they look after :)

Lol, I underestimated how long it would take to paint oxidization on all of these Undead :(

@Back5 are those these?

These are 3 finished undead. This is basically what my army will look like. This was my first time painting an entire army, so my order of operations was not efficient at all :( Lots of shortcuts I could have taken with the painting, but it's fine. Learned a lot along the way!

@jek Unsure what picture that is.

Nevermind I'm just being stupid, I thought those from another group looked familiar! The finished product looks pretty awesome!

Finished the infantry today. If I cannot finish the remaining undead in the next couple weeks, it will be a few months before I can start painting again :( Away rotation and boards will steal all my time.
