12 Turn Mega games of Armada? (team format of course)

By Marinealver, in Star Wars: Armada

So I got the SW LCG for just the Deathstar dial and gave all the cards to some one who plays them. I'd figure it would make a better counter than the 6 numbered tokens that the core set gives us. however I notice the dial goes from 0 to 12. So I started to wonder, what about a 12 turn game of Armada (make sure you have the whole day off).

So just thinking it would probably be best for a 2v2 or even a 3v3 game. sort of like Take the Station but instead of no commanders just have teams cannot have more than 1 company of the same unique name. So you could have some interesting commander combos with this. Points are still 400 per player (or 300 for 3 v 3) and each commander chooses only one objective instead of one of each of the three colors. The rest follows as a normal game only each commander does one activation instead of the two (so 2-3 activation's per side).

So how do you think a game like this would go (besides ridiculously long)?

Our 1500 point All Out Offensive involved somewhere around 50 squadrons and about 15 ships per side (only one player had fewer than 5 ships going into the AOO). We started at noon and natuirally put on Rogue One. We didn't finish until 10:30pm after being fairly disciplined. Amusingly, after getting through the original trilogy I decided to "punish" everyone by putting on Phantom Menace, and by sheer coincidence we rolled the final dice just as Jar Jar Binks shouts "We is'a goin' hoooome!"

I wonder if a game can last that long. I feel like one side will not have any ships left by round 12 but it's a neat idea.

This is very true. The game is meaningfully finished after about 6-7 rounds regardless of the primary victory condition. In our game the only things left were a bunch of squadrons and flotillas with only 1-2 combat ships left per side.
