Yellow Daqan

By Torpid Rebel, in Runewars Painting and Modeling

Hey guys, I don't really know the point of this subforum, but I personally always like to see alternate colour schemes, and I decided to go with yellow and silver for my Daqan. I did a tester model for all to see, and now I'm going to try and replicate across the whole of my starter set.

The test model was undercoated black, then painted with Citadel's Averlund Sunset, Naggaroth Night, Leadbelcher, Mournfang Brown, Caledor Blue, gold (the gold one... I can't remember its name!) and Dryad Bark. Then all of these parts were given the appropriate washes, then I painted them again with the base colours (I was testing something, probably wouldn't do this again). And that's it. I haven't highlighted or based.

Upon finishing, I decided I liked the scheme and looked into making it more speedy by starting with a basecoat of yellow instead of black. I'll let you know how that goes!

looks good!

Personalized themes are the best.

I like it. Your yellow looks really good.

Well done.

It can hard to smooth out yellow and if you ever find it getting streaky just remember: many thin coats.

Nice!

Sharp work!

I rather like them in yellow. Maybe that'll end up being my third scheme for the spearmen expansion.

You have 3 schemes?!

Depending on if I get to play enough to warrant buying more, I'm getting all the stuff. If there's organized play that I can get to, or if my wife does decide she likes the game enough to play regularly, I'll buy a second core set.

The Daqan from the first core I'll be doing in the "official" blue and white/red. The second core set will be a green and white scheme. The cavalry expansion will be a split between the two, but the spearmen will be a third color scheme to represent a smaller barony joining the fray and lending support.

Well I certainly can't argue with any of that. I'll be keeping all of mine the same scheme for unity, but I've been known to colour code my squads in other games (however, because of the flexible unit sizes in this, and it still being so new, I'd hate to have a mix of schemes in the same squad).
