Dual Rancor Lists

By Clutterbuck, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Does anyone have any dual rancor lists they can recommend? I've got two of them and I'd like to build something around them.

2 Rancors

2 Banthas

Beast Tamer

Devious Scheme

Or just throw vaders in

I've been playing Double Rancors since they came out. Made 9th at a Regional and won two local tourneys.

I've finalized the list as thus:

2x Rancors w/2x Feeding Frenzy, Jabba, Vintos, Gideon w/Temp Alliance, Beast Tamer, Devious Schemes, Black Market.

Keep them trained 95% of the time, and order hit with Jabba once you get some VPs and keep at it. Vintos and Gideon are objective runners once the Rancors get going, and take some pot shots when they have the chance. Build the deck creature heavy, with only a couple cards for hunters, leaders, for those pot shot turns. Don't be afraid to burn cards for Black Market points. Especially those expensive hunter cards that you may not even use (but nice to include in case you do).

I've been running a double rancor list and it's a lot of fun

rancor 10

rancor 10

beast tamer 1

nexu 4

Greedo 4

weequays 5

Jabba 6

This was a blast to play. I wasn't focused on being super competitive, but I still did fairly well with it. If I wanted to make it better I would say the nexu and Greedo are the weaker parts of the list. But @MagaSilver is right on with the strategy. Smash, smash, keep smashing :-). Also, be wary of playing against Banthas and rancors because they can trap both your rancors in your deployment zone if you're not careful.

Not double Rancor, but I played around with a beast list on the weekend, just for fun, went with

Rancor 10 w/ feeding frenzy 1
Bantha 9
Jabba 6
Nexu 4
R. Hired Guns 4
R. Bantha Raiders 5
Beast Tamer 1

This was on the anchorhead bar map, I blocked the hallway with my Rancor but was able to do 9 damage on a Wookie Warrior in one focused shot which I finished off with my Nexu. But this was a mistake as it blocked the way for my Bantha. I was playing against my tournament list that a friend was running with Jedi Luke/E. Rangers, but he wanted Wookies versus Obi-Wan. The E. Rangers and Lukes pierce 3 just demolished the Rancor. He went down with a fight though utilizing Jabba's ordered hits, but Jedi Luke dodged a max focused attack for 7 damage and 2 surges that saved his bacon, then he SoSed to take down the Rancor. I got my Bantha into his back end and with beast tamer and jundland terror I was able to do a lot of damage, taking out 2 rangers and C3P0, finishing off Gideon the next round. But by then he had decimated my back end with Luke and he was dropping tokens for points with his Wookie and remaining Ranger. I think if I was able to get the Bantha in the back end first to soak damage and cause havoc and use my Rancor/Raiders to take out Luke I would have been a lot better off. Misplay from the start really hurt me.

It is hard to play two massive figures since you can't enter their spaces.

Definitely. It took quite a few plays to figure out how to approach each map and the different lists you'll see with having two massives. A good player can cause you to struggle to use both rancors effectively, but with practice you can do okay with both. The best is when a player makes a mistake and lets you pincer their best guys between the two rancors. Ohh, the glorious slaughter! :-)
