Rounded Out Imperial List - Help Wanted

By EmperorJay03, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hey everyone. Looking for some help in tailoring a fleet that allows for some flexibility in gaining victory tokens while watching each others back. I included an Interdictor to slow the enemy down while providing some good capital ship cover. I included an ISD for the same reasons + I just like to try to round out a fleet with a heavy hitter ISD. I placed more of an insurance policy on the ISD so that I can keep a focus on it and allow it to take heavy damage while the 'Hand of Justice' creeps around the battlefield for those tasty victory tokens. I have a light fighter list but I included some potent combinations with "Bombers" and "Swarm".

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Spear Strike Force II

Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 400/400

Commander: Moff Jerjerrod

Assault Objective: Precision Strike
Defense Objective: Fire Lanes
Navigation Objective: Intel Sweep

[ flagship ] Imperial II-Class Star Destroyer (120 points)
- Moff Jerjerrod ( 23 points)
- Engineering Captain ( 6 points)
- Phylon Q7 Tractor Beams ( 6 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
= 162 total ship cost

Arquitens-class Light Cruiser (54 points)
- Hand of Justice ( 4 points)
= 58 total ship cost

Interdictor-class Suppression Refit (90 points)
- Interdictor ( 3 points)
- Director Isard ( 3 points)
- G-8 Experiemental Projector ( 8 points)
= 104 total ship cost

1 Ciena Ree ( 17 points)
1 TIE Defender Squadron ( 16 points)
1 Maarek Steele ( 21 points)
2 TIE Interceptor Squadrons ( 22 points)

I personally feel that the arquitens would be better fit by replacing it with a Gozanti and some squadrons/Upgrades. I think you'll find that it gives you more utility. Definitely get a gunnery team on that ISD.

Drop engineering captain and Issard as with no slicer tools there isn't that much point looking at enemy dials if you can't do much about it.

You can then add DTT to the Arquitens or for a few more points take Needa+TRC.

Swap Ciena for Zertek to gain an escort with brace tokens to keep the defenders and interceptors alive for an extra turn.

If you follow Parkdaddy's suggestion then Avenger and Suppressor combine well and adding Target scrambler as the second upgrade on the Interdictor would be nice. Spend the remainder on squadrons.

First thoughts:

Activations: 3 activations will leave you cold- the average is currently around 5. I've tried to run an ISD/Interdictor list and even when I had 4 activations (ISD, Interdictor, Demo, Gozanti), it's tough. The Interdictor is a very light hitter.

I find Isard isn't super useful just because you can usually guess what dials people are using.

Squadrons: your complement is general-purpose, but you'll have trouble activating them. The ISD's going to be busy, the light Arq has a sq value of 1, the Interdictor has a squadron value of 2. Without an escort your squints, incl Ciena, will die pretty quickly without activations, or have to stay far back out of the fight. Consider firesprays for fighter/bombers, rogue will free them up, or decimators.

In general, I agree with Parkdaddy, I think a Gozanti is a good fit with the big ships. Maybe 2 of them to support and add to your activations- comms net gozantis are cheap enough to fit 2 into that Arqy spot.

Thanks for all the suggestions and insight, it helps.

Parkdaddy, good call on the swapping to a Gozanti to free up some points to spend elsewhere and I can certainly see the benefit using Gunnery Teams. How about including 'Leading Shots' on the ISD and lay it on along with 'Gunnery Teams' and 'Avenger'? Or I could swap out 'Tempest Squadron' for a TIE Fighter Squadron and 'Targeting Scramblers' on the Interdictor. I could also swap out 'Tempest' for a TIE Group and 'Expanded Hanger Bay' on the Gozanti to push more of the squadrons?

Mad Cat, I was thinking about switching out Ciena and the TIE Interceptors for Zertek and Bossk. Bossk takes Zertek's damage so he can reroll attack die and Bossk's auto-targeting gets unlocked. Bossk is expensive but a beast at squadron battles. Thoughts?

Duk3, yeah, I was looking at the potential activation loss and thought I might be able to regain some of what is lost by including bombers. Perhaps this is where the Firesprays or the TIE Defenders/TIE Bombers come in. Thoughts on how to clean up activation's or use an Interdictor list more efficiently?

How about this restructured list. I still think it needs a little work but it's getting closer:
