How does the Permanent keyword on Indebted work. I'm guessing it's added to the Campaign Pool and starts in play every game for the rest of the campaign.

Permanent cards are part of your deck, but if they are in your deck they start each game/scenario in play. So in the case of indebted, if that weakness is part of your deck you will start every scenario with 3 resources instead of 5. The upside to this being that it is one less weakness you can potentially draw and be screwed over by at a crucial point in the scenario.
Thanks, it's just a pain in the rear that I drew it in the first scenario of a Dunwich Legacy playthrough.
I'm of two minds about it. I actually think it's one of the least punishing weaknesses there is, it's just that you are guaranteed to be affected by it every scenario, but it also makes it easier to plan around it. Which character are you playing with?
Roland's saddled with it (which is unfortunate since I've previously mostly used Jenny).
And with Jenny, it's probably the best weakness to have. I'm doing Dunwich with a friend. I'm playing Daisy and he's playing Jenny. We're going it on easy mode because we're more about the story than anything else.
I'm trying out the campaign two-handed (with Roland and Wendy). So far anything which can go wrong is going wrong (I'm on round five and three quarters of the draws from the encounter deck have been Treacheries).

What do you mean drew it during the first scenario? You should have the same basic Weakness for the entirety of a campaign, and as explained previously, Permanent cards start in play so should never be drawn from your deck.

Because he drew his random basic weakness for deck creation at the start of the campaign, probably?
As an aside, the only reason why I'm not keen on Permanent Weaknesses is that I can no longer play with a blind draw for my weakness. I used to like not knowing what it was until I drew it in game for the first time! But that doesn't work now... Slightly sad about that, but I got over myself!

A lot of people, myself included, turn all the Weaknesses face-down except Indebted, then shuffle and pick blindly. Or you can put a little strip of colored paper on the backside of Indebted if you sleeve and shuffle and pick that way.
Ah, I made a few mistakes on the playthrough (enough to not post a write-up so I'm going to give it another try later). I turn the Weakness deck facedown when I'm working out the Weaknesses so I'll go with the put Indebted face-up and shuffle them to decide which weakness everyone gets.
