Rebels last hurah.

By cert13, in X-Wing

With the mighty mouse announcing this will be the last season of the cartoon, does this mean we are in store for the heroes set/wave? We get to see the x- wing return to all its glory of the mighty a- wing (and the interceptor) get the turret evasion they need to compete? Where is my Thrawn card. I think we will get a tie in other than the ghost but what it will be is the question.

Sabine's TIE defender.

Sabine's Protectorate Fighter, Sabine's X-Wing, Sabine's Shuttle, Sabine's jet pack ...

Don't forget Mandalorian Boarding Party.

Wait, since when did 3 green dice with Autothrusters not count as enough turret evasion on A-wings and Interceptors?

Since TLT?

If 3 green dice and Auto Thrusters can't hold out enough vs. TLT's, then they need to be nerfed. I thought it was fine enough, though.

I've yet to have an A-wing or Interceptor take more than a point of damage from concentrated TLT fire in a turn. Heck, I ran a Soontir into the middle of a TLT spam list hunting for R1 but not quite making it with any of them. Eight attacks against Soonts, zero damage.

Methinks A-wings are in a fine place when it comes to turrets. Interceptors just need some decent pilots beyond Fel.

You're forgetting Fel's Wrath and Sabine's Interceptor.

Carnor Jax isn't decent? I think he's hilariously obnoxious to lists dependent on dice mods, especially when you get him out of arc so he's either not shot at or AT kicks in.

Yeah, trust me. TLTs were not the down fall of Aces with AT. That goes to other things that go on a K-Wing.

Honestly, there's a lot of things designed to kill traditional aces. Autoblasters in all forms, Sabine, BMST, Hux, Kylo... Everything was to kill token stackers - and lo, they have been slain. They have not even the Emperor to hide behind now.

The problem is that you have a small number of players who feel that their Interceptors should always take zero damage from eight 3-dice attacks, especially when only half of those attacks can be modified by a token.

The idea that one attack out of eight could actually hit them? Clearly, the turrets are imbalanced.

If you're getting shot at by 8 enemies, or even 4 enemies twice, you have made some bad tactical decisions.

Agreed, Carnor is solid. I often forget him because I see so little of him. Good shout.

Yeah, I've met lots of those. I had a build for a while that directly messed up interceptors (which were massively prevalent at the time), and the idea that I could keep Fel under control caused honest-to-goodness rage. I met a full Imperial A-hole list (the original Fel/Vader/Jax) in a tournament and cleared the table 100-0 in something like 15 minutes. The guy spent the remainder of the round, and much of the next, loudly telling everyone in the shop, how bull my list was.

My list had a Hwk. With an ion cannon.

Honestly, that list was built more because of those people than because of the meta. I don't enjoy giving an NPE to anyone, but I do find it cathartic to expose chinks in armour.

I would love a Pheonix Squadron expansion featuring X/A/Y Wings, with droids, hera, sabine, ezra in everything... oh the fun!

Chopper as a salvaged rebel only astro and an X-Wing title granting the use of Salvaged astros! :D

So are they going to make a new series from Battle of Yavin to Battle of Endor?

Yeah I know many other formats from books to games have attempted to fill in the blanks like Dash Rendar and Dark Forces II aka Jedi knight AKA Jedi Outcast. Also the game series with Juno Eclipse (what was it called? force awakens or something :P ). However it has all been thrown away into Legends so Disney could make that story-line the next CGI animated series if Disney wants to keep making Star Wars T.V. shows.

And considering the money Rebels made, why wouldn't they?

i'd enjoy that as well.... I have 3 wish lists for the next LFL Animated series...

1: Rouge Squadron/Red Squadron - how badly I would love them to take inspiration from the Rouge Squadron books from the EU and adapt it into a TV series. this is my #1 hope. Even if they replaced all the "Legends" characters with new blood. Even if they didn't do a thing where they are chasing down Issard... I just want to see a series with Wedge running his squadron after the battle of Endor!

2: Original Trilogy series that fills in the blanks between the original 3 movies. They are doing really well with the comics in this time period after ANH. So I'm leaning more towards stories between ESB and RotJ

3: Old Republic - this one is such a pipe dream.... but how awesome would it be to see them tackle this ancient time where jedi and sith run around rampant? They have already hinted at some Old Republic era events in Rebels. The reason I don't think it will happen is that both series so far have dealt with events between the movies. This makes it easier for viewers to immerse themselves in it because the time line is easy to figure out. (my wife argues that... shes very confused where R1 fits...but she also doesn't care lol) So going back that far may not be easy for the general public to adopt. Maybe in a Netflix exclusive series, but not DisneyXD series.

What I do think they are going to do is something post RotJ era between the battle of Jaku and Force Awakens with characters we have never heard of before and then give us cameos here and there. I also feel they will work as many force wielders into it as possible.

A Rogue Squadron cartoon? Yes please!

With the Raider showing up in Battlefront II (and indeed being the "hero" ship) methinks your wishes are not so far-fetched.

A "Rogue Squadron" story may be yet another reason why we haven't seen anything recently.

If they did a Rogue Squadron, it wouldn't live up to what people want. Remember it's going to be shown on the Disney cartoon channel and be considered for kids. If they did make it, it wouldn't be what fans want. There would be fewer actual deaths and such.

My guess is that they will start to make a cartoon in the new trilogy. They need to flesh out that area of the story. Now that Ep 8 plot is settled, they can find room for some new stories to take place.

If we're getting a new animated series, I want three seasons in the tone and style of that TIE Fighter short on YouTube. That, I'd actually watch.
