I broke down...

By Lyraeus, in Runewars Miniatures Game

I have played 2 games... And have now bought a second starter box...

If my wallet had sentience it would wish to kill me.

If your wallet was sentient it would be happy with all the hot purchasing action it was seeing. It would be lying in bed, smoking a cigarette, and be like, "What, you want to go again? Already? Okay let's buy another core."

Glad I could paint that disturbing picture for you.

Disturbing? That is HILARIOUS. Potentially true too...

Mine filed for divorce after the third box :P It's going to be a rocky separation too when she finds out I've already got the expansions ordered...haha

My wallet has no problems...my wife on the other hand...

Now you just need a third so that you can have a unit of two lancers/golems plus one to put in an infantry unit.

That is the goal... 2 weeks from now if I can hold out.

I'm trying to hold out and not get a third core. Problem is that I don't know if I'm patient enough to wait for the expansions.

Try waiting for your faction to be released. Or even announced. :(

As someone who will play all 4 I am right there with you!

O man, I'm so there. Trying to hold at 2 core boxes but it's really really hard just thinking what some more Cav and Golems might bring to the table...

My defense to keep me wondering, with the expansion boxes if there might be other upgrade card goodies we haven't seen yet.

Stop it. You'll have the expansions soon and you'll want those new cards and new miniatures in new positions

Comparing the costs of the expansions, it looks like I might go for a third core and just proxy the upgrade cards. I doubt I will be playing anywhere will it will matter if I have the cards or not. I will purchase expansions that are not copies of what is included in the core though. I might even get the Rune Golems and Carrion Lancers as well.

i might get a second core for the sheer fact that i noticed the immense price difference...

Looking at one side alone, you get 4 spearmen (50USD) 2 calvary (25USD) a hero (probably safe to say she's ~15USD since she lacks the mounted variant) and a Golem (~18, since 35 for 2). Thats ~118USD worth of models...for ONE FACTION and it has two factions in there.

im legitimately confused why the standalones are that expensive if the core is sooooo cheap by comparison. Course still want the new cards, so theres that typical FFG fiasco.

Most miniature game core sets are set at a huge price value for the customer so that they will buy the more expensive expansions. It's common across the industry, the core sets are an acceptable loss if the game really takes off and expansions are being bought at a high rate. And FFG puts just enough in the expansion versions of the core models to entice a lot of completionist/tournament gamers.

I think 2core and the command packs would provide plenty customization .

Then maybe the new heros, for the extra change in feel.

I was considering that as well actually. For massive Infantry armies, multiple cores are necessary

I also got a second core set, actually only a day after I got my first one. Long time since I was this excited for a game and so far its living up to the hype for me!

I just hope my local community picks up on it, and that I find a solid storage solution since there will be minis galore up in here!

Yea it was the day after my initial purchase. . . I also had my store order all 3 of the Army Painter Shades and I need to get some foam and base army painter sprays.

I asked the wife to budget in 200 for me last month.

I got a core set and the army painter starter set. The only thing that she was unhappy about was me starting another game (already into Armada and Xwing).

Now I got to tell her I want another 150 next month to by all of the undead expansions, or if they aren't released yet the army painter mega set of warpaints.

But I've assembled the core and you get a lot. Love the undead.

Honestly for storage i was probably just going to make dividers out of Foamcore wide enough for each tray. It'll be more than reinforced enough at that size to allow me to stack the dividers. Finding a decent container to build it into is more of my issue

Yea, figuring out what to store it all in is a pain

@Vineheart01 actually, I have an interesting solution. Magnetic Miniature Case.

A-Case

I had my FLGS save a second core for me today.....
