Master of the Fleet Battle Report Double Header - Rieekan vs Tarkin. Now with Yakety Sax.

By Captain Weather, in Star Wars: Armada

Hey guys!

We're back with another episode!

Because its our tenth ep, cameraman Ken decided to step up from behind the camera to join me on screen once more.

And, because its the Easter long weekend here, we also managed to crank out two videos at once.

Here's the second:

As always would love to here feedback or general opinions (loved it, hated it, whatever).

Enjoy!

No captioning...but I skipped ahead to see an MC30 get behind a Victory Star Destroyer at point blank yowch.....

Yakety Sax makes all the difference! ;):P

YEEEEEEESSSSSSS!

Love the banter. Great games

Interesting to see the ramhorde win so decisively. I don't think I've ever actually played against one which is a bit wierd really. Any tips?

It's hard but generally you need to kill them faster than they can apply damage to you and/or slip by.

Corner deployment if you have a big ship and bombers comes to my mind.

Ackbar assault frigates with rogues took mine out. They hard turned and ran away, chucking obscene amounts of red dice and rogue squads in their wake. Not much my corvettes could do.

If you run away at full speed they have to play catch up, better than going head on.

Now I have to Corvette spam somebody just for fun. Although I am sure they will not have any fun.

Those commander flags are so cool. Where'd yu get those? Also, damage counter tokens are so much easier than damage cards... lol

Both items are from the game Star Wars Rebellion by FFG.

We use them to make it easier for the audience to track things!

At ~26:00 of the first video, shouldn't you have stayed at five damage? DTT says add a red die, then remove one die of any color from your attack pool, but the blank you rerolled wasn't there to be removed. I actually haven't finished the video to see how big a difference that would have made, but I know that's how DTT works, and the way I do it to make sure I get it right.

Edit: You do it correctly c. 44:00 (and once more towards the end, the only other time it's used).

I would have thought bombers too but given how fast his flak chewed through your fighter screen I'm not so sure. I'd imagine that 3 hull ships with scatter would die about as fast as 5 hull bombers with nothing and the reikan factor is important too because there's no such thing as alphastrike....

will be interesting to see if anyone does well with it at worlds, I know my list of lists for Nats just got a new option added along with some question marks that hammerheads might fill to improve the build

A counter that I have not tried on that scale, but worked well in limited testing (obliterating a pair of CR90s that tried to flank without a screen) is Rhymer augmenting Decimators. My current version is Rhymer, a pair of Decimators, Jendon, with Vader and Strom as screens, and sometimes with a Jumpmaster for support. It's challenging to build ships around the wing, but it chews up CR90s and spits them out in pieces. The high hull makes them extremely difficult to destroy outright, and Jendon is a cheap way to have an extra Decimator or double-tap Vader on command.

Great stuff guys! Thanks for posting these are always great to watch....

Props to Kenny for playing through the ramstrosity and staying a good sport!

Cheers gents!

End of the day it was about having fun for me and getting the experience of facing such a fleet.

Yeah I noticed that on the watch through.

Essentially we dun goofed, but got it correct later on.

Great to see the camera man in action! Some great games with some great filming.

One way is to fly past them. If you can get behind them on their first charge, they need to long to turn around for a second ram round.

And squadrons are really good against the ramming CR90. Just need to catch them fast and early. And with a bit luck you can take out one already on the first round. And once they are all damaged from the first ramming round, they need to die really fast to the squadrons.

Another tip: Keep them away from the station. If they are able to do them ramming on the station, it becomes really hard to take them down.

I played two times against CRam90 Lists. Both times i won really steady. One match was looking bad after the first ramming round. But after this the squadron ripped the CR90 and they were not able to turn around for more damage. So only a few more CR90 died in the last two round.
