Pilot Skill 0 would either price them lower than 12, which they've repeatedly stated they are never going to do, or have them at 12, which makes them just a worse academy pilot.

I'd never refuse more named TIE Pilots though.

That scene never made it into the movie.

More than the scene never making it into the movie, it was specifically a trailer shot, it was never considered to be apart of the story at all. They added it because it looked cool.

I have heard that they cut it because Jyn was rescued by an X-wing shooting the Tie Fighter in the side. They had an almost identical sequence of the X-wing shooting the AT-AT in the side which remained in the movie and they decided having 2 such similar sequences next to each other looked repetitive.

Trying to remember where I read that.

There's also the moment where she gets attacked by the TIE Striker which it appears this moment ultimately became.

Can we please keep discussion of the show in the off-topic section, so little plot details aren't getting spoiled for those of us who are trying to avoid them?

Please?

Spoiler: they fail to destroy the Death Star.

Fingers crossed they steal liberate them from the Empire.

Stolen from an Imperial junkyard. X-wings look like hold overs from the late clone wars or early Empire before the TIE series proved so successful. Advanced TIE series craft were being designed and fielded at least 4 years before the rebels seemed have acquired any T-65s.

Be prepared for Sabine's T-65.

Rebels have incredibly lackluster pilots. Hera tops the list (sans Vader and Ahsoka, of course), yet even she is prey to a lot of things. I'd prefer FFG capitalise more on Rogue One's excellent pilots, and the upcoming Episode VIII.

The time frame seems to be 2 waves and 2 "ace packs"/huge ships per year. Wave 11 is coming out mid-year, so I think we'll see a Scum Aces pack released around august/september, the two or three Last Jedi ships in early December (as a prelude to wave XII), and the rest of wave 12 released in January 2018.

It'll be nice to see Luke outdo Poe in the epic space battles.

Y-Wings already fill the "stolen from junkyard" niche. Rogue One Ultimate Visual Guide talks about how Incom got nationalised by the Empire, just like it was in the EU:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Incom_Corporation

so the EU's "superfighter" description of the X-wing may get recanonized too.

They were designed to take on Star Destroyers (when fielded in large numbers), after all:

X-wings are obviously assault ships, look at the huge guns! Using them as space superiority fighters was secondary for sure.

They did seem to hit very hard in Rogue One - a few X-wing laser bolts cut AT-ACTs in half. Whereas in Rebels, an AT-AT can take 4 proton torpedoes, sending it crashing to the ground - and still get up afterward, albeit with a lot of holes in.

One things for sure, Sabine has found another ship to be in.

Hera in X-wing with current pilot ability, then add R2 unit....

You might want to look at Hera's X-Wing again. It's not any old astromech that's on her fighter. It's Chopper.

All right FFG, Hera as a X-Wing pilot and Chopper as an Astromech....make it happen.

Still Waiting on Blue Squadron X-Wings, and now they're throwing Green Squadron X-Wings at us! How will my wallet ever survive if FFG capitalizes on this?!?

Given FFG's T-70 X-Wing comes in 'Blue Squadron' colors, I kinda doubt they'll give us a 'Blue Squadron' T-65 X-Wing. It's not like the designs are MASSIVELY different, after all.

I could totally see a 'Green Squadron' one, though.

About the zero move TIE thing, most ships in Star Wars can hover like that, so giving that ability to ships that hover on-screen would be silly.

The ACT is not nearly as well armored as the AT-AT. For one there's a huge FAQing hole in the middle!

The AT-ACT did shrug off a hit from Baze's rocket launcher.

Aside from the "dedicated cargo bed" the two are pretty similar - hence the AT-ACT being called "a larger version of the standard combat AT-AT"

I believe the technical definition of the X-Wing is a "Strike Fighter", that is a multirole fighter/bomber or attack "plane" which puts as much emphasis if not more on the ability to engage in space superiority as to engage hardened targets. The Y-Wing is a more traditional fighter/bomber. Multirole vehicles are pretty brill in SW, which is why the X-Wing is such a big deal. That, and canonically the empire has yet to produce a proper multirole spaceframe.
