Some guys have used mailing tubes that can store more than one. Or you can use the plastic tubes used to store and transport large blueprints.
How do boxes get destroyed during a family discussion? Must have been the kind with "aggressive negotiations" or something...
I just picked up a 3" x 36" mailing tube from Staples yesterday for $6. It fits my Hoth Open mat perfectly with room for an additional mat for Epic games.

Our family discussions get extremely lively and animated sometimes. Other things lost recently would include a passport, a fair amount of my grandmothers dignity, a vase, 2 cups, another vase, and about 70% of my brothers mustache. He's a quick one!

I just ordered two of these last week. One of them fits two official mats, in our case, Starkiller base and its primary target, Naboo, if rolled properly. It doesn't need to be overly tight, but it won't fit loosely rolled up either.
The second will be used for kid related art stuff for the moment.
I have GOT to get in on these discussions. I'll bring a helmet.
Drafting Tube from Michaels, Jo-Ann's, or similar art store.
I use a telescoping document tube. I got it from Walmart for $10 USD when it was on sale. It is currently $20.
