I live streamed the learn to play game yesterday

By WWPDSteven, in Runewars Miniatures Game

We did two games: The first was won handily by the Daqan. The second was a win for the Waiqar.

I was wondering if the Flesh Star Destroyer would transmogrify to a Flesh Dragon. :)

Dunno if just a coincidence or something similar, but all games I've seen finish in almost draw or crushing defeat for waiqar. I think this is the first waiqar victory I see in a video (and it was preceeded by a defeat).

I hope it isn't a matter of unbalance and in that case I hope they get juicy units/upgrades to rebalance.

Honestly, I realized after the first game that the Waiqar in the starter game need to be played with a bit more forethought. They work on combos. The Daqar seem to be very strong as individual units. My armchair analysis after two games.

The Waiqar are like the Rebels in the Armada core set. If you go straight at them and fight toe to toe you lose. Gotta stretch the game mechanics and understand the timing & initiative a bit to win with the Waiqar. Kinda smart, actually, to force players to think about the big picture.

For example in my first game, I set my skeletons to charge his spearmen... but then I realized the skeletons initiatives are all 1 worse than the spearmen. So if they're facing off, they should expect to be reactionary. In my 2nd game, they instead braced for the impact, and survived initial conflict fairly well.

Plus, if you aren't placing Blight with the worm and archers, you're going to have a much more difficult time!

Good stuff! Just started following you, looking forward to seeing your production after getting comfortable with the rule set.

One suggestion: If possible, maybe consider a graphic overlay of the runes that are cast each turn

I also find that all the good stuff is in the expansions. I find siege golem upgrade 100 times better than carrion lancer upgrade. However the deathcaller is extremely powerful combined with a good blight generating list.

That would also ardus ix'erebus use that skill contained in the upgrade card (right?). That could mean to kill a bunch of cavalry or golems without the need of too much luck, as I see in videos, golems aren't terrible at killing, but they are so tough, that they often make the difference and they are hard to kill by common attacks.

Yeah, I agree with all of that. Just started painting my skeles!

Lucky man! Because of the Easter it doesn't come to my land till next Thursday!

Just putting my skellies together too. Checking out video along the way. Anyone notice skeleton head on one of the axe variants not sitting totally flush after insertion??

So are we going to see the Flesh Dragon Podcast now?

hah- I don't think so :) Gonna enjoy this one with less commitment!
