I'm reading it as the upgrade needs thermal. I am not seeing periods or conjunctions or additional mays in there, so it seems all conditions need to be met. If you have different people reading the same thing and thinking it means different things, then it is ambiguous.

If it is suppose to be any weapons, it needs to be written something like this.

"Before you activate this character, you may play any weapon from your discard pile on her. The cost is further decreased by 1 if the word "Thermal" is in its title."

Instead it is written, "Before you activate this character, you may play a weapon from your discard pile on her, decreasing its cost by 1 if it has the word "Thermal" in its title."

It really doesn't indicate the "Thermal" as being conditional rather than required, making it ambiguous. It could just read, disregarding the decreased cost, "Before you activate this character, you may play a weapon from your discard pile on her if it has the word "Thermal" in its title."

She is broken with the ambush guns if she can actually chain them like that. Most likely she is just an over cost grenade tosser. Either way, needing to FAQ a card right out of the box like is pretty sad. They can forgo the flavor text and make sure the card is clear.

According to the OED, 'if' can be a substitute for 'when' or 'whenever.' Try substituting the two words and see if that makes more sense to you.

Get her and Han and he'll never run out of shields. Loop hold out blaster until he's full

It's the DL-44 you want to be looping, dice removal, extra action and a shield.

I can already picture the shenanigans with Sabine and Holdout Blaster. Activate her, play a Holdout Blaster from your discard pile, resolve all her damage at once. Play another Holdout Blaster to get an extra action. Replace the second Holdout Blaster with something else. Claim the Starship Graveyard to put one of the Holdout Blasters on top of your deck, and repeat. Silliness abound.

Can't wait to see what Thrawn dice look like. He likes to manipulate, so I can see either discard or disrupt, but focus would be the most likely since his strategies insure victory for the Empire. But he also can use a blaster, and he can go hand-to-hand with training droids and a trained ISB agent.

I'm thinking there might be a non-unique Inquisitor as a blue villain character? Would the Bendu be a support or a character? Could he be our first neutral character?

Really, so many thoughts right now! Here's hoping they do these characters justice.

You only get one trigger for her effect when she activates, so you can't do any kind of loop with Han. You can recur them for the effect, but you'll only get the one shield a turn.

Her card does say before you activate, so I'm assuming you are correct that her ability would react like Guardian and she would be activated and unable to do it more than once per turn.

Abyss and ozmodon are right. One upgrade per activation. But getting an Ambush upgrade will still be pretty awesome, as you will be able to go ahead and resolve dice. I agree with Mel that the DL-44 is the one you want. Activate, replace a DL-44 with a new DL-44 for no resources, remove a die, and resolve blasters all before your opponent gets an action. I already liked Sabine on the show, so I'm definitely going to play this deck.

If I recall correctly, they said it would focus on Rebels when they announced Thrawn. [...]

They did confirmed Thrawn for the next boosters (EaW)? I must have missed that, when they've announced that?

This was announced around the time Awakenings was released or just shortly after that Thrawn would be in the third set (which at that time did not have a name or at least a name they did not share with the public.).

ok, thanks !
