Corran Biggs and M9-G8 Thane

By crossvoicing, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So, the hope is that M9-G8 on two enemy ships with Thane will help keep Biggs alive more than the usual round or two.

I'm also spitballing a fancy opening where Thane has target locked corran and Biggs but as soon as someone shoots at Biggs the first time Thane can switch the lock to enemy ships.

Also, is expertise worthwhile or corran? Or does that just make him extra expensive without much gain?

I like the list! I would fly it. I think expertise works here, as Corran will get some mileage out of using it for both shots and it allows him to use his action to TL, or barrel roll into better position if he's already got one. I've been wondering about the possibility of Thane switching targets mid-combat too, and it really just comes down to how pilot skills work out. If you are facing high PS opponents you could theoretically have the highest one locked, then change that lock to Biggs after that attack to give him his own re-roll.

My thoughts as well. There could be some interesting mid combat changes that might affect the game. I think it especially works since Thane is the middle pilot in terms of skill.

My assumption is that in order for this to work his primary action cannot be to TL.

Only one action and no regen makes that Coran look awfully squishy once Biggs goes down. If you are trying to squeeze him into 42 points then VI/FCS/R2-D2 might work better. I also feel that Miranda might work better than Coran in this build. Put one of M9-G8s locks on her for extra fun with a TLT.

I use this Biggs and Thane together and switching his TL's is integral to the list. I outlined an example of a typical round in a previous post. It's quite effective and, depending on your opponents list (and how lucky you are with rerolls), will keep Biggs around an extra round or two.

I tested both this VI Corran (although I'm horrible at flying Corran...) and various configurations of Norra and I found that Miranda was definitely a better fit alongside Biggs+Thane, mostly because of the TLT. I use Miranda with TLT+EM+Plasma Torps+Rey Crew+GC. It's an absolutely great list, I'm 21-4 overall with it including a top 8 finish at a regional.

Good points all. It definitely seems like Miranda is a better bet.

Thanks everyone
