Why are you guys arguing which window is which? Its clearly shown in the movie where the hanger bay window is. Skip to 2:20.

I don't see any hangars at all, just a window.

That's right. There isn't any hangar. Just a window.

The square 'hatch' is the window you're showing in the picture above. Notice how the 'hanger bay' on both the model and in the film still are recessed into the side of the ship. The window that Luke et al are looking out of in the above picture is not. The hanger bay (if it is one) is next to the window of the medical suite in to allow patients to be brought aboard and transferred in the shortest possible time.

The picture of the hanger space in A New Hope is barely wider than the X-Wing itself. X-Wings are about 11-12 meters in length. Nebulon B's are about 30 meters across. Easily enough room to store a couple of X-Wings or A-Wings. I agree, Imperial versions may have hung TIE Fighters from docking clamps or external racks as you previously suggested but that would be because TIE's in the pre-'Rebels' Canon were designed to be launched from racks whether launching from Star Destroyers, the Death Star or from ground bases.

There is no hangar. Here is the shot and reverse shot from the film where you can see Luke and Leia standing in what you are calling the Hangar from outside of the ship.

Cheers Swusn... Though you're about twenty-fours hours late in pointing it out. Forresto posted the same YouTube clip yesterday and resolved the discussion with the same conclusive proof! It is always nice to be reminded that one made a bit of a fool of oneself though. ;):D

LOL, ****, the story of my life. And we are all fools at times when discussing imaginary spaceships :). One only needs to look at my previous arguments in this thread to see.

True dat! :D

It's nice to know though that unlike many online forums, here on the Armada forum you can take a stand, make a total twonk of yourself and nobody holds it against you! Even heated discussions (I'm looking at you Flotilla's and Rapid Launch Bays!) seem to be conducted with a modicum of decorum ;):D
